Steven, the simple fact of the matter is that Trump needs to be charged for his variety of crimes and, if found guilty, sentenced accordingly. You cannot drain a boil without dealing with the head.
Steven, I'm sure you will agree, but we need to remind ourselves that one of the main reasons why we are in our dreadful predicament - where truth and justice are disposable inconveniences, and ignorance and bigotry flourish - is that there was no real accounting after the horrors of the war in Iraq. Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and their ilk were allowed to go scot-free without so much as a rap on the wrist for their crimes against humanity.
If our nation is to lay any claim to being one where justice and fairness matter - indeed if we are to have a hope of ensuring that democracy does not wither and die - Trump must be held accountable for all his crimes: his collusion with Putin and his oligarchs (beginning well before the 2016 election), the several counts of obstruction of justice as detailed in the Mueller report, his meddling with the election results in Georgia, etc., etc. etc.
We have to show that no individual is above the law - especially a sociopathic narcissist who treats the entire justice system as plaything to be manipulated for his own ends.
This is so soothing. It’s like when you have something medically wrong, could be serious or not, you have to put your trust in the doctors. It’s not easy. If you can’t then you find one you can. I trust the FBI with the Herculean task of prosecuting all these cases and all the other investigations. I trust Biden for putting Garland in charge of Justice and keeping Wray. Wray flat out said white supremacy was our biggest threat and that is good enough to have in charge because he sees things realistically and clearly. The FBI must feel overwhelmed but that’s okay, they can handle it. It’s going to take time and patience.
Listened to the entire interview. I think I read somewhere that Frank is a Connecticut native. My spouse, who once worked at the Arizona Daily Star, would love nothing more than to move to AZ. I have been resisting d/t the politics of the place.
Germany had to deal with Fascism entrenched everywhere in her society, along with the rest of the world. Crush the bastatds. Be fearless and relentless America.
First, let me say, two of my favorites…most trusted, most knowledgeable & straight shooters…Steven Beschloss AND Frank Figliuzzi. Thank you.
The dynamic of this conversation is so essential to us as Americans. We know, and trust the FBI is doing their jobs but it’s not like they’re scheduling press conferences/ releases to let us know what’s going on. So, we worry, which never helps. But Frank has contacts on the inside that share just enough of what we need to know to sleep at night & he gets with you & you guys present it to us. You ask him the questions we would be asking. Then you give your take. If we did not have this type of relationship established between you & your people, there would be more panic then there is now. My job is to talk to all my peeps & tell them what Frank thinks, your eval, sprinkled with my eval. Then they pass it on & so on. I get calls every day from people I know asking me to explain something that just broke….like yesterday FB suspends djt off FB vs. freedom of speech… Hey, I’m no attorney, but with the right research and sources I can teach my friends to be better prepared when dealing with misinformation. If I’m asked something that I don’t know the answer to I always say, IDK, give me 24 hours to research it & we will talk.
This is another aspect of America that inspires me (see SB previous essay). We work together. We all have our parts, utilizing our skill sets, to keep America moving. This time our mission is critical. We all must know the truth, spread the truth & call out any & all dis/misinformation. Never forget we have an extraordinary superpower. We are voters and we do vote regardless of the road blocks put in front of us.
I do appreciate that you had this conversation and I appreciate that Frank Figluzzi more or less says what he knows. To some extent it’s reassuring but it’s also frustrating. The message to America is ...wait. Wait for republican insurrectionists to be voted out of office. To me that’s a huge part of the problem, because so far I’m not aware that many people who voted for these clowns have changed their minds.
As long as FoxNews, etc. keep lying to the people who listen to them nothing will change. It’s s constant stream of disinformation & hate flowing into millions of households all across the country every day. The authorities can find and shut down websites and internet platforms that spew hate and encourage domestic terrorism, but they will pop up somewhere else on the internet very quickly and FoxNews will keep the disinformation flowing.
We also have foreign operatives all over America joining various groups & encouraging hate, resentment & violence. If we just sit back and wait for the authorities to fix this I’m afraid it’s going to get much worse, but what’s the alternative? Plus, maybe I’m a bit paranoid, but I have a feeling there are domestic terrorists in the FBI and other intelligence gathering gov’t agencies who will subtly interfere with investigations.
So far it looks like democrats in our government are ignoring what is staring them in the face. They appear to be doing business as usual and simply not engaging. But when some artificial money gathering deadline comes up dems refer to what’s going on to frighten us into donating more & more money. I’ve got news for them, money isn’t magically going to solve any of these problems. There needs to be a strategy.
I’m fully aware that ignoring and refusing to engage with bullies is a useful tool, but it won’t incentivize bullies to stop bullying. It’s going to take a lot more than pretending they don’t exist. Someone, or many someones with authority will have to get in their face(s) because another peril is that too many of us will get used to it.

Oh, I hear you. I expect more likely it will be for bank or tax fraud than inciting insurrection.

The stakes could not be higher.
Thanks for this blunt presentation. We better come to grips, as One People, One Nation

Hi Janet, FYI, Tucson is full of Dems. Actually there are quite a few here in the Phoenix area too. They just aren’t as pushy and loud as republicans.

Appreciate that observation.
