We know that a few, possibly more than a few Republican Senators will use their faux outrage of KBJ’s rulings in child pornography cases to vote against her.
As if you could open a case a judge has ruled on after months of deliberation and just pick out a few data points that you thought would make good political fodder.
However, the Senators true motives are they are scared to death that KJB will look at the jurisprudence in each case. Even though her rulings will not change the balance of the Court; her dissent will be a scathing rebuke to those that thought they did not have to follow procedure.
Those members, some there for decades will not like the schooling in the law they will receive.
We know that the obnoxious, inexcusable assault on a really beautiful woman was horrible to witness. Men and women of no character questioning a woman of apparent character. Of unquestionable character.
The news videos of members of the US Senate displaying to the world their shallowness, their lack of self-awareness, their open disregard for the constitution they swore an oath to protect, and of their self-importance is a painful thing we need to be aware of. A bad look. Not a City on a Hill with a thousand points of light. We are on the world news every night. We cannot deny what some of us stand for. The world is a witness.
Oddly enough, the idea of persisting is attributable to Mitch McConnell when he shut down a speech by Elizabeth Warren, and her motto became "Nevertheless, she persisted." And that is what Judge Jackson has done.
However, I tend to disagree that desire and hard work will make a dream come true any more than wishing on a star will. A lot of hard working Americans struggle with the incentive to do better all their lives. And they just keep on keepin' on.
I'm sure that Judge Jackson will become Justice Jackson, though. "President" Manchin has spoken.
She weathered the inanity extraordinarily well. The Texas buffoonery at a new low with no floor in sight. I'm from Texas.
Doug, I'm pulling for you. I got my graduate degree in Texas in the early eighties. So I have a bit of an understanding of how bas Texas can be.
Beautifully written. She has the temperament for SCOTUS after dealing with the yahoos in the GOP

Kudos to Senator Booker for lifting us up from the swamp.
