Today, in the NYT's "Morning" news roundup was this sentence about Trump and his use of AI: "It’s a wild and often gleeful medium that matches his freewheeling populist style." WHAT in God's name is Stuart Thompson, who wrote this shameful sentence, thinking of? Freewheeling populist style??? That's like calling Hitler "fussy and demanding." I wrote the editors an email about it, but heard nothing. Media outlets need to start saying: "Republicans Allow Trump to Tear Down the White House" and "Republicans Allow Trump to End Payments for Women and Children." To me, that's essential.

Thank you for sharing that comment by the NYTimes morning news!! Terrible.

I know! It stopped me cold. But then again, the NYT has been handling Trump with goat kid gloves for a long, long time. It's sickening.

I’m going to see if I can locate it and perhaps respond

Was it online? Did you respond?

I know they probably won’t notice, but I have to try

Very well stated and so true. No Kings and no sweeping things under rugs. We need to demand that there is zero blurring of the truth or kowtowing.

Absolutely: "Republicans allow Trump to tear Down the White House" (East Wing, anyway).

Still looking for that comment…

But did find this:

(I have been curious &!asked if there were formal plans - about exactly what he is constructing UNDER that obtrusive ugly bunker like ballroom?)

⬇️

I guess these days ANYONE can be published by NYT to enhance(?) their resume.

Stuart B Thompson is a Comedian. In his worked dumping feces on your “subjects” is funny? Freewheeling? Pathetic use of a news publication’s space.

Do you honestly believe that Trump--or any member of his Keystone Kabinet or administration--will pay the slightest attention to our massive protests? So what are we supposed to do? Trump is mentally unfit and needs to be removed from office, but his cult is not going to do it.

Trump and his cabinet aren't the audience for my protests. I'm out there for my own sanity, to let other protesters know they are not alone, to encourage those who haven't joined that they are welcome to a growing party, and to give courage to my Democratic representatives. Of course I hope Republicans will see what they are enabling and change, but I'll keep showing up regardless of who is ignoring us.

I will continue to show up, as well, and to continue to stay as well informed as I can. However, by the time long-term tactics like changing shopping habits--the Jimmy Kimmel reaction being an unusual exception--can have an effect, the damage being done unchecked by the MAGA party may well be irreversible. I am an older American, and I do not want to spend the remainder of my life fighting against a crazed Nazi/fascist bunch of morons just to be able to afford food, rent, and medical care. I used to say that I expected Democratic senators and representative to chain themselves to the doors of the Capitol if necessary to prevent the dismantling of our government, but I came to realize that it would do no good; Stephen Miller would probably just convince puppet Trump to jail any congressional protesters. Then we would be even worse off.

In addition to the massive protests which really unite people, we need to boycott those businesses and corporations who are supporting this regime. Hurt them in their profits and that will get their attention. A nationwide strike needs to happen. Stop the flow of money to these criminals and maybe we can start some new conversations about how to strengthen our future from this nightmare reality.

Hi MKW

Yes I do feel they “notice” us and the immediate proof was the crude tasteless AI video of Trump dumping on protestors.

I do think the numbers surprised them and that many of the participants expressed some joy and had fun.

It was celebratory

I will not stop

We need each other to stay strong

Michael Wolff is suing Melania Trump over his reporting on Epstein. During the discovery process a lot will come out. (I saw this on the Meidas Touch today: https://open.substack.com/pub/meidastouch/p/michael-wolff-sues-melania-trump?r=qjf9i&utm_medium=ios.)

2/ Excerpt

Katie Coss:

“My eyes stung from the relief that our sense of humanity is not lost, only deeply buried by authoritarian tactics.

This reprieve was illustrated through signs that read, ‘No KFC (Kings Fascist Clowns)’ and verbalized in chants of ‘This is what democracy looks like.’ Gen Z and millennials hung from scaffolding while Boomers marched beneath them”

—/

Thank you Katie: my eyes “sting” too off and on all day and they did as I walked in Denver not far from where I was born.

Bless you and Steven for being there and sharing your thoughts of Reality and inspiration.

I am unable to leave without (eyes stinging) adding this excerpt from Steven:

“I am already imagining the day when Trump’s billionaires ballroom is removed, the White House Rose Garden and the East Wing are restored, and the lawless leaders of this corrupt and criminal regime are held accountable.”

Excerpts from Steven and Katie’s words of many more than worthy of additional attention:

Steven Beschloss:

“Even on awful days when the pile of lies and the wanton destruction are shamelessly showcased, it’s our duty to do more than confront what we know to be wrong.

It’s essential that we speak up for the values and ideals, the American rights and the human rights, that will see us through this dark chapter.”

I try to stay balanced and reduce my “speaking out” (11-12 hours a day now) and in fact many may be weary of my constant involvement- but too much hangs on what WE do now - so I’ll keep trying.

Stay strong

We need each other

Thank you

I'm wondering just how much of this consternation, on so many fronts, is yet another attempt to distract from the ongoing Epstein mess. Truly, trump is a prince of chaos, but these multi-faceted disruptions seem relentless. And watching Mike Johnson's near-sprint to avoid questions from news people yesterday makes me wonder if he, too, is implicated in the Epstein files. Their appearance is complete desperation.

Excellent post. Senator Murphy's description of the situation is clear-eyed and stark, as is needed to call out the radical and intentional destruction of our federal institutions. We need more Democrats (and how about some Republicans) to stand up to these outrages.

Steven - you taught her well. More of the huge turn-out protests; it worked 250 yrs ago, will work again if we persevere. His cronies need to wake up and realize they will not prevail; house speaker seems to be finally wearing down but not fast enough, his excuses wearing thin. The demolition of the People's House is abominable. Just maybe Dems/Americans can sue him for NOT following the National Park Service guidelines - NPS manages the White House and there is a process that must be completed for any major construction or demolition to LEGALLY begin AND What's His Name ignored each and every step using ExO. A friend sent NPS info to me but can prob find on NPS web site. Wonder if that includes turning the oval office into a room that looks like a bordello? Glad you were in NY with your young protege. Democracy Will Prevail.

Trump thinks he’s going to be in the White House forever. That is his plan. It’s also significant that he’s knocking down part of the structure where First Ladies often received their visitors. His wife doesn’t even live there with him. I hope I live long enough to see things turn around completely, especially the Supreme Court. (I’ve been voting since Nixon versus McGovern. ) And I think someone should do a deep dive into Mike Johnson’s background.
