Happy Birthday, President Carter! Your life of selfless service is an inspiration to all of us who believe that love and respect for our fellow beings - be they near or far - as well as for nature itself, is our highest calling.
Happy Birthday to President Carter! He was the first President I voted for. My parents believed in his message of American independence on foreign oil and purchased a solar home and gas efficient cars - ahead of their time!! He and Rosalynn led exemplary lives and provided an example of the "everyman" in the White House. We were appalled by his election loss to an actor who promised glitz with no substance and spent his eight years of office decimating the middle class. POTUS Jimmy Carter and FLOTUS Rosalynn Carter were the best examples of Christianity that I know. I'm praying he lives to vote for VP Harris. Best wishes to one of our greatest Presidents!!
My first time voting was for Jimmy Carter. He came to our home Town Hall meeting. You could FEEL he was the right person to lead a nation. Much love to him and gratefulness to the power he evoked in others to give of themselves. What a great and Powerful leader to show a nation and a world how to live.
Thank you President Jimmy Carter and Happy Birthday.
President Carter is a true representation of a servant leader and the best of humanity. He and his wife devoted their entire life to serving others. His example will be missed.
Happy 100th Birthday President Carter!!! I voted for you in my first presidential election in 1980. "Your life of selfless service is an inspiration to all of us who believe that love and respect for our fellow beings - be they near or far - as well as for nature itself, is our highest calling." I am a humanist. Thank you so much for all your hard work and dedication to all the people of the world. You lead by example.
Steven, Thanks so much for the history and the congratulations to President Carter on his 100th birthday. He is an amazing humanitarian and the kind of people we need in the White House in 2025 and beyond.
Steven - Jimmy Carter IS grace personified. He is gentle, honest, his beliefs and actions fill the world with grace. I share his wish to not only live long enough to vote for Kamala but to see her inaugurated. Blessings to you, President Carter.
If you have no other reason to vote Democratic this November, Jimmy Carter & Barack Obama, two great humanitarians who continued to serve after they left the Presidency... compared to George W. who will not even ask repubs not to vote for CFDT... just lazes back of his retirement checks from us.
absolutely wonderful, a Happiest Birthday to this wonderful soul !!! Thank you Steven for the excerpt :
"America is the most diverse or heterogeneous nation, comprised primarily by immigrants who were not afraid of an unpredictable future in a strange land. Almost all of them had great need when they arrived here and were then inspired to be of help to others. This concept of service to others is still a crucial element in the American character and has always prevailed in overcoming challenges and correcting societal mistakes."
Birthday Blessings, President Carter. And, thank you, Steven for your kind thoughts and reflections.
He truly exemplified, for me, what a Christian is capable of, if Faith matters. A Faith that is expressed through action, not just word. What a contrast to current leaders who are so clueless to such Love. Troubling as this is, to me, I am still Hopeful mindsets will change. Come to a better understanding of just what such an example this former President and Humanitarian means to so many. And, not just in this Country, but, around the World. Thoughts, and Actions, Matter!
My one moment that distressed me about Carter was when he conceded the election to Reagan before the polls in the West had even closed. That, of course, was the fault of the network projectors--but it hurt. Beyond that, he is near the top of my favorite presidents because he was flat out realistic and allowed himself to say that. There WAS a looming energy crisis, far worse in many ways than even he foresaw.
Thinking about Habitat for Humanity brings up a thought that was brought up in tonight's debate, about how to fill the need for housing. Harris has to push for an expanded "job corp" of young volunteers working under and with experienced contractors to both build and renovate failing housing stock. Even more, she has to come up with a way to utilize the construction workers who are undocumented migrants by allowing work permits and perhaps a path for citizenship for joining this effort. I was surprised to learn that most undocumented migrants are actually doing construction work right now--more than in agriculture. If trump does his "round up," the home/apartment building industry is going to collapse.
The trade unions may object; perhaps this program could be limited in time-- until the housing crisis is past. It would thereafter certainly give the unions a vast pool of workers to draw from going forward, and up the likelihood of such workers JOINING the unions if the unions cooperated at this juncture.

Proud to build on this great human’s legacy at Habitat. Our work is more necessary than ever.

PS - TY Steven for today's message.
Decency defined. Thank you President Carter.

Beautiful comments about a good and decent and caring man. Thank you,Steven. If only he could have served another four years!
He is a great human being as you describe Steven. Thank you this on this special day for not only the former President but for us all.
I always think of the contrast between him and Nixon.
Jimmy always wore a sweater in the winter White House to conserve fuel and lower heat bills.
Dick had the fire place roaring in the summertime, and ran the air conditioning full speed.
A man of true religious belief as opposed to trump supporter, Franklin Graham.
