Thanks for posting this again, Steve. Dogs indeed are special members of our families. Ours lost 3 this year. My sister lost her beloved Rocko and Ginger and me my precious Princess, Molly. Each was unique, special and brought so much joy to our lives. Ginger just passed a few days ago, so once again the grief of loss pains our hearts once more. But the memories of the joy & love they brought to our lives & so many others will keep them forever close & dear to us.
We watched the White House Holiday Celebration Special on PBS last night on Apple TV. There was something soothing about seeing the traditions of heart and relationship expressed through vulnerability and art — reassuring in an almost primitive "sense memory" way.
Welp, you’ve inspired me once again to stop and survey the goodness, the kindness and yes the simple humanity we can easily find in the Biden’s. I just watched Dr. Biden and POTUS visit children in the DC hospital. They held up their little decorated bags with such beautiful and elementary images of Christmas trees and stick families; little smiling faces jumping out at the camera.
With every force of a nation’s troubles weighing daily on this man and his wife, they double mask and visit incredibly sick kids.
They gravitated to a child named Beau, telling him they had a Son and a grandson with the same name; same spelling.
Thank you for this article, I enjoyed it so much and I needed the reminder of goodness, empathy, and light.
Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas and happy New Year! Keep it up! God bless. Debbie French
Steve, thank you for the one-hour special you did on MSNBC on 12/24/21 about Christmas in the White House. It was so informative and very much appreciated.
Very sweet to read this on Christmas Eve morning, with my own three dogs curled up near me. And your Hazel is positively glamorous. 🐾
The absence of a dog in the Trump White House speaks volumes….

Very sorry you lost your fur baby.
