Thanks! Excellent description of this insanity. It will end, yet the carnage will remain.

Noem denied Governor Pritker’s request to pause immigration proceedings during the Halloween weekend. She said no, and then she moved on to Northwest Indiana - a large blue area that is socially, culturally, and economically connected to Chicago. NW Indiana is also on the same time zone as Chicago, with the rest of Indiana being an hour ahead.

NW Indiana is in the Border Zone and considered part of the Chicago jurisdiction. That means CBP can operate there. ICE can operate anywhere. ☹️

One or both were busy this summer in Southern Indiana, Bloomington - and Evansville where CBP has an office. ICE is in Louisville. Their office is in the Federal Building downtown. Louisville’s mayor caved after we were again designated as a sanctuary city & funds were withheld. (In T1 that designation was removed. This term it is any city that doesn’t cooperate regardless of the discretion allowed in fed law.)

That sounds about right. Louisville, Southern Indy, and NW Indy all have access to lakes and rivers where undocumented immigrants may enter. Thanks for the link.

Not so much an issue of humans entering by water. It does have a port. (Kentucky has about 50,000 immigrants here illegally - a lot more legal immigrants & refugees.) Louisville is a Dem city; has a major UPS hub & International Airport. CBP oversees drugs, tariffs, etc. But ICE can go anywhere and are picking up some people in the city.

A few yrs ago a joint drug interdiction task force with multiple agencies including the Feds convinced UPS to give them access inside the facility. UPS booted the task force from its facility when a L’ville officer was caught stealing. (He took a plea. Got 5 months in prison & 5 months home incarceration.)

Where in Kentucky would immigrants enter? The northern border is the Ohio River. What lakes could immigrants use?

I'm more than ready to see the Republican Party go the way of the Whigs, but the Democratic Party needs a serious overhaul. I've been saying for decades that there are plenty of mediocre Democrats, but *all* the excellent legislators, governors, etc., are Democrats. That's kept me voting Democratic for as long as I've been voting. But the upper-level Dems in Congress were so taken aback by Trump II, even after years of accumulating warning signs, that a serious overhaul is needed, not just in the national Dem organizations but in many of the state parties too. It's also long past time to rein in the Supreme Court, but that's going to take some doing.

What kind of Court gives a Stay to Judge Ellis's order? Name the Judges on the Appeals Court who granted the stay. As a voter, I need to know who they are. Decisions affecting the citizens of Chicago should not be done in secret.

Pritzker should be forming a Project 2028 Group to plan for the dismantling of the Trump Regime including arrests of the Trump Cabinet and Impeachments of the Gang of Six. Intricate plans need to be made before the newly elected Democrat becomes President. Besides the return of Reason, the Trump Arc and the Ballroom need to be torn down and the East Wing restored. Nothing should be left to the honor of Donald Trump.

The time has come to take the fight to the fascists. When federal operatives of the regime commit illegal acts on our streets, the authorities of the States where those crimes are committed should immediately arrest the perpetrators.

A show of righteous muscle would garner wide public support and galvanize opposition.

We have to stop this nonsense NOW.

"And what kind of ruling party is ready to let nearly 42 million Americans go hungry tomorrow as part of its political game?" This is the same pseudo government who terrorized Germans with their gestapo - just a reincarnation 100 years later. BUT after WWII, Germans were smart enough to vanquish every Nazi or person who behaved like a Nazi.

Trump's starvation of Americans is heresy and blasphemy against the very principles our country is based upon - while he builds a $300 Million dollar ball room, he refuses to feed Americans in need. The American people will eventually stand up against Mr. Trump - the sooner the better.

So what are we, THE GOVERNED, going to do about it? IT has been almost 2 years since I wrote and published a doable, sustainable long list of modernizations of the 1787 Constitution that would create a virtual fourth Branch to our Federal Republic, WE THE PEOPLE, YOU and I, thus allowing lawful removal of our would be dictator BY THE PEOPLE, restore the Balance of Powers in our Federal Republic, create the ability for THE PEOPLE to overrule violations of voter rights, women's rights, and BAD decisions by the Supreme Court of the United States and individual federal judges, and government shutdowns by petition and plebiscite, to name just a few of the suggested modernizations. So where is the massive political, and public support for this? How many have even read A MORE PERFECT DEMOCRACY: MODERNIZING THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION FOR THE 21ST CENTURY? Why haven't you? You complain but offer no real solutions? I have. Yet the problem persists, even though the solution has been out there for 22 months! The type of support that made massive turnout for the "NO KINGS" protests (which did NOT remove the king, I might add) is needed to modernize the Constitution so we can. The people who organized the NO KINGS movement are needed to support the MODERNIZING THE CONSTITUTION movement. I can not do this alone. Please help and contact me so we can discuss and share ideas.

A. As I’m sure you know it can take years under the best circumstances to amend the Constitution. We are not in anything approaching the ‘best circumstances’ nor have we been in the past 2 yrs. We don’t have years

B. It pays to remember that whatever new weapons handed to THE PEOPLE - It is THE PEOPLE who voted in a trifecta. A good example of why we don’t have a direct or pure democracy. So far no indication they are interested in dumping their maga Senators - who are not gerrymandered. 2 Dem seats & 2 GOP seats are ‘toss ups.’

C. THE PEOPLE were the last guard rail and they failed. Is there reason to believe a mechanism for buyer’s / voter’s regret in the Constitution would turnout as you indicate & not be invoked by supporters of demagogues? Oh, but the price of eggs.

There are things in the Constitution which need to be modernized. Like the Elector System. However the states which benefit are sufficient to keep it from happening.

Organized resistance and opposition does make a difference. It is growing and engaging people. It is through these networks that THE PEOPLE organize local networks to protect one another & work for change.

We’re a mess. That’s what happens when a country falls apart. It happened to Germany after World War I. It was so devastated they chose a strongman who helped them find scapegoats.

One day history will say that the US fell apart and made the same mistake because it had corrupt, hollowed out schools. People weren’t aware because the fascist-like administrators had silenced the teachers and everyone, including great reporters, also ignored the few brave teachers who tried to expose it at websites like WhiteChalkCrime.com and EndTeacherAbuse.org because there were so many crazy conspiracy theories that it was impossible to believe the real conspiracy that took the country down.

If you read the memoir of my teaching days where I take you into the bowels of the education world, A Graver Danger, you’ll understand. But who will listen to a teacher who’s part mama bear, looking out for her students, when those in power turned most teachers from the souls of our nation to zombies operating in fear? That’s our problem.

Steven, please give teacher whistleblowers a voice and we’ll be able to turn this lost ship around. The answers are hidden in having had a fascist takeover in our schools—democracy’s foundation—four decades ago that slowly caused us to lose our connection to democracy.

The cruelty you described in our streets now was what it felt like when I was teaching 25 years ago. Once you look into our schools, what happened to us will make sense.

We should really think about what it means to “apprehend …. bad things”. — “apprehend even more illegal aliens, bad people and bad things here on the streets of Chicago.”

Tariffs are a tool for the Mad Clown to leverage feasts, gifts & bribes from billionaires, institutions and foreign nations. We have no more ‘gifts’ for him. He cannot be re-elected and has acknowledged it more than once (as has Speaker Johnson. All “workarounds” go through the House.) Once again I saw he’s invading cites that are in the Border Zone where citizens have fewer rights. Border Patrol has long ruled border areas with little regard for law. Courts and Congress let them get away with it. Now they have mixed ICE with CBP tactics to dominate. That is the purpose of the ‘blended’ units. ICE can operate anywhere.

Chances are if you live in the US, you live in the Border Zone.
