The latest in the idiotic trade wars, in which Canada was going to impose big tariffs on electricity that is supplied to some US states in response to the tariffs that the felon was going to impose on it:

"And can you imagine Canada stooping so low as to use electricity that so affects the life of innocent people, as a bargaining chip and threat?"

The felon actually said this, when that is what he has spent his whole miserable life doing.

The felon and his toadies took away women's healthcare, are aiming to do the same with birth control, have indiscriminately fired thousands of people whose jobs they don't even understand, and have demonized anyone who isn't a white male. And Mexico didn't have to send 'rapists and criminals' to the US. There are plenty of them in the Republican Party.

How about all those innocent people? The felon is whining about something that he brought on himself -- and us. Really.

You couldn't write a play with a plot this stupid because no one would believe it. I wish we didn't have to. What a moron.

I think that comment by the Orange Menace in the midst of this after Ontario again threatened to cut off electricity to the US. Something that could be life threatening and could result in damage to the Canadian - American grid. The US and CAN sharing the grid helps keep it stabilized when there is increased or decreased demand on either side of the border. Shutting it down gets really complicated - for CAN too.

Not that the Orange Menace cares. He was doing one of the few things he’s good at - instigating & goading people into things he can turn to some sort of messaging advantage.

Very informative exceedingly helpful and shared with us just at the right time is your article here,Steven.

Each category is equally important however your item 6 is my favorite at this moment where you highlight the judges and their decisions to use the Law to prevent Trumps egregious vengeful illegal actions!

Example

“Just yesterday a federal judge, ruling on a suit brought by federal employee unions, ordered six federal agencies to rehire thousands of fired probationary workers at the Departments of Treasury, Veterans Affairs, Agriculture, Defense, Energy and the Interior. Judge William H. Alsup called the firings ginned up by DOGE “a scam” and “a gimmick” and said he might expand his order to other agencies.”

Thank you for staying this nightmare fracas and sharing beams of hope.

We cannot allow the dark and nefarious to take hold and overwhelm. It is a challenge to accept that the enemy within is sitting in the White House. While evil has taken residence in the highest seats of power, we cannot fold. We are in a battle for the heart and soul of our country. We MUST stay strong and positive, resisting that consummate evil at every turn.

Except not today I'm angry and here's why my posting for today all day: Vote against it for heaven's sakes. Don't listen to Chuck. We are ready to be like the Canadians out here. Your votes are performative and honestly do not effect you at all. They will effect you at the voting booth if we get a chance to vote again. As for Chuck's silly reasoning that it could be worse is BS.. It is worse and one way to make it better is with these handful of special elections... Are some (only some) of these politicians even aware of what is truly going on? Or do they all live in ivory towers like the orange stain in his gold tower... get a grip

Oh, please get over the age thing. No one ever says that when they agree with someone.

I happen to be quite old, myself; so feel as though my opinion should count a bit…. Time for some new, fresh blood in the party.

Ann Sharon's avatar

It is not a matter of whether your opinion counts. It’s more about how age is a quick go-to when someone disagrees. As in old folks are not capable - unless they agree.

Schumer is 74. Bernie is 83. I never see anything saying Bernie should leave due to age. And by the way, 74 is not “quite old.”

It is up to his constituents to decide whether they need better representation - and to the Senate to elect its leadership.

I am old too and I am angry with the old white men in the Democratic Party who are too ingrained in collegiality to see the harm they are doing. Schumer did better than Bernie - only voted for Rubio for Secretary of State. Bernie thought Collins at the Va and Burgum at Interior would do wonderful jobs. Durbin voted AYE on Ratcliffe (CIA), Collins (VA), Burgum (Interior). Rollins (Agriculture) and Driscoll (Army Sec). We do not have elderly Statesmen.

Yes, during the Great Recession it was old folks should retire and clear the way for young people to have jobs. Then Covid where it was popular to say old folks didn’t have that much longer to live anyway. Here’s one of my old favorites from the TX Covid pandemic days. (Note: This turkey isn’t even 70 yet. So it was pretty safe for him to set the bar at 70.)

Hope you followed how Durbin voted for Trump's misfits! If not, do not crown him with glory yet! He is my Senator too. I have not trusted him since he approved Judges for Illinois who were Anti-abortion.. . because when it is time for Democratic Judges, the Republicans will agree to those judges. HA

The CR rules become permanent and give more power to Trump. The CR gives an unlimited purse to Trump. He will have expanded rights to tax us, and hoard that money for use in the Executive Branch. A shutdown is temporary. The CR establishes new permanent rules. It strips Congress from terminating a Presidential emergency declaration. That is right. A Trump with no controls. All I can surmise is that perhaps Schumer has been bought off. The fraud is obvious. https://hotbuttons.substack.com/p/fraud?r=3m1bs

Here are the phone numbers to Chuck Schumer's office, in case you want to join me in calling when his office opens at 9 a.m. and asking for a change of mind: 202-224-2131 and 224-6542. I’m making clear to him that donations to Democrats will crater if they don’t fight now. The democratic constituency is ready for the fight now. With this partisan CR or with a shutdown, Trump and Musk will do whatever they want. So it is a dilemma, but not really. It’s time to up the ante and fight back officially.

Good synopsis. Thank you. I’ll send it to a Swiss friend who disavows loyalty to any government anywhere, and just wants to know if prices are rising here! YES, IT IS UP TO US. but I am bone-tired. At 86…I am so tired and feeling that the youngers…with more life to live and protect, need to wake up and step up!

Yes, these are positive signs that the anger is growing. We have invited vampires Trump and Musk to cross our Nation's threshold, their every blasphemous act aided by their thralls - each and every Republican in both houses. Democrats must do something they've never conceived as necessary: disenthrall enough Republicans to break the spell by appealing to their buried sense of shame. How? Agree to making contributions sufficient to neutralize the two vampires' threat of primarying then. Anathema though it may seem, there may be no other way to break the spell before the mid terms.

While they are at it, it would help if the Democratic Leadership could get the Big 8 to vote for Democracy. When at least 8 Democrats vote AYE with MAGA so many times, it is time to have a sit-down and explain life in Trump world.

Thank you, Steven! Just what I needed on this dark (post time change) morning. I would add that I am pleasantly surprised that the regime has not placated its followers by tossing around proposals like candy at a parade - tax breaks for seniors, price controls on eggs, a “Trump dividend”. Useful distractions, but none of which would move beyond talk.

An Alternative to “Marching in March”

Before the end of this month, go to your local post office and get some stamped Postal Cards, and share and mail yours to: President Donald J. Trump

The White House

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW

Washington DC 20500

Tell exactly what you think of him and his administration and his so-called advisor, Musk. Do add your opinion of all the other Cabinet Appointees and the so-called GOP and the Corrupt Supreme Court. Such adjectives as con, felon, insurrectionist, traitor, are possible descriptors. Wanta be King is also a good mention. Sign with your name or “I AM a Voter,” “ I AM a Citizen,” I AM a Taxpayer,” “I AM Truthful,” or all of these descriptors.

Please mail these cards ASAP and think of your actions as a first step in the national protest by thoughtful, caring, citizens of our fragile democracy. PLEASE SHARE THIS IDEA WITH OTHERS!! (Idea NOT mine originally, but worth sharing with everyone you can)

It is up to us, and the sooner the better. What is that magic number, Steven? We need 12 million citizens to take to the streets in order to bring this regime to a grinding halt, am I right? Well, let's get to it: let's organize the leadership needed that could bring that level of civil disobedience into being.
