I think this is a great, imaginative ad-at last. It's like the warning that comes on the TV of an outage or a storm warning, or like an amber alert on our cell phones. It is completely attention getting, the clicking, the red letters. One HAS to watch. I am certain his fan club will read it. I'll bet trump is seeing red !!
I also think she did a great job appearing with Obama. I like his "don't say boo, vote."
My fear is that too few Americans understand how quickly things can deteriorate if Trump gets in. They also don’t understand what life under authoritarianism would be like and that it can’t be easily undone. Too many undecideds poo poo the warnings thinking the Dems are being hysterical.
It makes me think of the time before Dobbs. Few understood the consequences of its repeal until it was overturned and women started dying in states with abortion bans…
There are many of our fellow citizens who are ignorant of something as enormous as the Holocaust. Same with the tragic stories of pre-Roe days when women died needlessly. Voting is of paramount importance in self-governance. Stupidity and ignorance in choosing our leaders gets us what we deserve.
Women got a real wake-up call when many states rapidly implemented abortion bans and severe restrictions post-Dobbs. Then the horror stories started to come out regarding women who could not get what was previously routine medical care and suffered grievously as a result.
The upshot is every referendum supporting abortion passed even in red states. But how will this translate to the presidential election? We’re about to find out.
I wish this message and the Harris message could reach every person who is voting for Trump, but doubt that will happen. I have written a book called From Democracy to Democrazy and written an almost daily substack by the same name. I lived and worked in six dictator-led countries over about 20 years - mostly Russia. Trump's goal - as you outline in this message - is identical to the goals of Russia outlined in a book published in 1997 called The Foundations of Geopolitics. This book is comparable to Mein Kampf in Germany and Project 2025 in the U.S. All three publications are about the fall of democracy and how such government succumbs to a dictatorship - Germany/Hitler, Russia/Putin/ and in the U.S. it is Trump.
I was in Russia during Trump's many visits in the 1990's thru early 2000's., I know he was compromised and entrapped to be a KGB/FSB stooge. My daughter was the manager of the Beverly Hills nightclub, casino, and restaurant in Moscow where Trump attended their grand opening and returned often to play out his sexual and inhuman, sick, and disgusting thoughts toward women. My daughter's death was ruled a homicide - a murder by an unknown substance and probably a poison. Her death was only 4 months before the 2016 election when Trump was busy bribing women to buy their silence about his sexual escapades.
Trump is a criminal and degenerate. Putin has plotted the demise of the United States and our government BECAUSE he blames us for the downfall of the Soviet Union. He calls this event the largest catastrophe of the last century.
Most Americans are completely ignorant of this fact, and if Trump is elected, he will do as Putin orders (he gets his "marching" orders from Putin) There will be no more elections - just like Putin and Russia. In Russia, a President by law is elected for a 6 year term. Putin has now been in office for almost 25 years. There will be innocent people in prison and Trump's criminal friends will be running the government. He will use the military just like the German Gestapo, and no one will be safe. Yes, Trump is a fascist because his choice is to either keep Putin happy or die. Cassidy Hutchinson mentioned that Trump is terrified of being poisoned. Duh. If you haven't read a book called "The KGB's Poison Factory," you should.
Putin spent his formative spy years in East Germany which was still a fascist state. He brought back to Russia the Hitler philosophy. Lo and behold it is now found in the United States via Trump. As of the 2020 census, there are over 3 million Russian citizens in our country - still loyal to Russia and ready to do as told once Trump wins this election.
Citizens of our country have no idea of what life is like in a communist or fascist country. My personal thought is that it is because of our poor education system. In the U.S. the southern states and those identified as "red" also have the lowest level of education. (Why do Republican-led states continue to be the least and most poorly educated in state rankings year after year?) "The Republican focus in education policy is on banning books from school libraries, claiming that systemic racism isn't real and pulling out courses that involve systemic racism on a reactionary basis." (Ibid) There is a direct correlation between education and income levels, and in 2020 the most educated states voted blue. They voted for Obama and for Biden, but then a few of the "red" states did as well such as Arizona - my state. There are more and more highly educated individuals coming to our state. Most people moving to Arizona come from California -a blue state, because the cost of living here is far less than in California. (ABC15 Arizona)
Kamala Harris's new "warning" ad is right on target and in my opinion needs to run all day every day until the election. At this stage, I do not know what other message could sway the minds of Trump voters. Two weeks ago, I was optimistic that she would win. I am now seriously scared that the Russians are manipulating polls, our election, and in many ways our government. If Trump wins, it will be due to Russian interference again and we will no longer be a working democracy.
In Russia, children begin to learn English in grade school, and if a child does not do their homework then the teacher calls the parents into school for a "bashing:" meeting. Two of my four children attended Moscow Public Schools. Our country is ranked 13th in the world and trails behind Denmark, Sweden, United Kingdom, Finland, Germany, New Zealand, Germany and so on. (U.S. News, "These Countries Have the Most Well-Developed Public Education Systems.")
"Citizens of our country have no idea of what life is like in a communist or fascist country." Amen! Elizabeth, I am so very, very sorry about your daughter's death/murder. I know it has devastated you. Did she ever tell you what some of the sick, perverse the orange sadist wanted to hide/was blackmailed by pukin to hide? Interesting that the orange sadist fears being poisoned. I have been saying for some time now, that if the orange sadist is elected, he will be poisoned soon thereafter because the maggots would never accept him being removed from office by the 25th Amendment. Then Vance, Elon, et. al. will put Project 2025 into action and our democracy will breathe its final breath. I like what you say about the commercial: "It should be played every hour of every day until the election" -- ideally on Fox News/Entertainment. This may sound far out, but may I suggest that you call Mark Cuban to suggest this? I truly think he would be open to it. Meantime, I wish you all the best -- as well as our trembling democracy.
Elizabeth, I just ordered your book. The blurb about your professional life surprised and fascinates me. I should have known with what you said about the multiple fascist countries in which you have lived. But WOW! Unfortunately, I have to buy it through Amazon -- and therein lies the extremely convoluted world in which we now live. Bezos owns the Washington Post. The Washington Post has a new CEO (as of January, 2024), William Lewis, who worked for Rupert Murdoch 15 years ago. This once excellent paper
-- I remember their new, controversial motto in 2017: "Democracy Dies in Darkness -- has, ironically, become a major player in causing the current critical illness, potential death, of our democracy.
Kudos to the Harris Campaign for telling this truth. Little of it is new. When Donald insulted John McCain, for shock effect and a reveal of his anti-honor bias, he told us loud and clear who he is. The news media failed to ask, then and now "Why do you hate honorable people?" The Fourth Estate has forgotten that Why questions are as legitimate as Who, What, Where, When and How. They never ask Donald "Why?"
I wish the Harris Campaign would highlight Donald's "Lies and tricks for money" scam. It too is blatant and corruptly ignored by the mass news media. His "be scared of the evil migrants and gangs" is the modern equivalent of Joe McCarthy's Red Scare. "I have a list of communist spies in the government, Army, movie industry". Donald's "Stop the Steal" lie is a scam for money and votes. No one in the media asks him "Why do you persist in telling this lie? Evidence and common sense proves it's wrong and insane. So far, you have received $250 million from gullible people who believe this lie. How long do you think you can get away with this?"
He never answers questions like that – at least not on camera. He tends to walk out of interviews and the CEOs who determine news content and want these interviews decided he made them money. Even though a lot has been reported about his scams, his companies’ conviction for multiple felonies read: re: tax fraud last year, the family charity, the fake university and on and on it went for almost 50 years. His hard-core fans do not care. They either don’t believe it was legitimate or believe something like everyone does it they’re just playing politics with him.
We voted two days ago in Las Vegas. The parking lot for the voting center was covered in Trump signs.
We reported the issue and yesterday the signs were gone. It’s against the law in the city of Las Vegas to place signs within 150 feet of a voting place.
It was too easy to accept Donald Trump - from 2016 on - as a clown. Now, although still not too late, he has become a danger clown … with something as fragile as a vote to guard against.
Yes, it's a powerful ad that is all the more chilling because it is true: the Republican nominee for President is a fascist to the core. Let that thought sink in for a moment.
My hope is that this ad reaches its intended target audience. It's inconceivable that the polls this morning are tied at 48% for each candidate.
It is encouraging that the early voting numbers are setting records in state after state. I wonder, though, what the split is between women and men? I'm counting on the grace and wisdom of women to save us from the existential threat that we face.
Thinking out loud here: I knew Immigration would be a huge political issue especially since solutions and funding were constantly voted down by Republicans.—-
What really surprises me is the reported high support Trump has from young men.
I don’t know how to assess that. It doesn’t feel to me like it’s a pro-life support swaying young men. Can they really be swayed by yearning for a male dominated society again?—-Control over women as in the past? What are the causes?
Yes. There is a subculture all in for that. Young men typically participate in elections at a lower rate. So those characters who like Tucker Carlson, maybe are evangelicals or just disaffected in general make up a small portion of young men & even smaller portion of the electorate. Trump campaign is hoping in a close election there are enough of them who go to the polls to make the difference.
With all we've seen, it is hard to believe that in an opinion letter just today in my local paper, these words appear: "Donald Trump is not a threat to our democracy. Biden and Harris are the real threats." Why are people so willingly blind?? I just hope and pray that there are not enough people like this.
a) they are fucking idiots. Just that. b) they are very much susceptible to the hate based rhetoric that he serves up continually, c) they know better but are looking forward to tax cuts and slaking their avarice. This includes the billionaire fascists like Musk and Thiel. Bill Ackman, who is Jewish, is also backing trump, which I do not understand. Same with some other ultrarich hedge fund types like Paul Singer.
Recent research shows that anger is -- literally -- physically addictive. And just like cocaine, the more you partake, the more you need to get the same "high".
Brilliant. The timing. The graphics. The construction. Above all, the using of Kelly's words to drive home this vital message from a man standing up to Trump. This is how Kamala is a strong woman: She does not hesitate to combine political forces with good and able men. She knows what she is up against as a woman. She knows how to do the ultimate work-around of that prejudice to hammer home this vital warning. (And she has a crack team running this campaign, a foretaste of how she will pick the right people to do the job of governance.)
The weighty opinion of General Kelly will not sway MAGAs, who either don't know WTF fascism is or frankly don't give a damn because their adulation of him is unshakeable. But hopefully, the so-called undecideds or any "sane" conservative-leaning voters will take it to heart. Same with the entreaties of Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, and the other conservatives warning of the dangers of trump.
If we consider that a 22-year-old was 14 eight years ago then we start to understand why a lot of this doesn’t move them. It’s been there the whole time they were old enough to know what was going on in the world. They have an entirely different perspective. However, many are very involved in other movements like ending gun violence & school shootings and are not interested in taking away rights or losing their own. We’re not hearing much about the efforts of David Hogg and others to turn them out because we’re too worried about the wacko showing up.
Our group talked again today of ways we can push communication during this final stretch. I am in an ultra red state, but blue city. My ancestors are traced back to the Revolutionary War. They were immigrants like everyone else. We all desire our family to have better lives than what we had. My parents had an amazing life and so have I. Both generations have done so not at the expense of others. Gifts you have been given are just that and need to be shared gifts. Character of person will give internal joy, greed will rot your soul.
Besides emphasizing his threat to democracy and abortion bans, they need to talk about what will happen to the supreme court if Trump wins. It seems to be fairly common knowledge that Alito and Thomas will retire and Trump will replace them with 40 year old judges who will be there for decades. Eileen Cannon anyone?
I immediately thought of the "Daisy" ad in 1964. Let's hope this one resonates with enough voters to give the Vice President a blowout win on November 5.

I just saw the ad yesterday, and was impressed that the Harris/Walz campaign is hitting trump hard.
I voted on the first day of early voting here in New Mexico, straight Blue ballot!
We voted two days ago in Las Vegas. The parking lot for the voting center was covered in Trump signs.
We reported the issue and yesterday the signs were gone. It’s against the law in the city of Las Vegas to place signs within 150 feet of a voting place.

Thank you for reporting them so their signs could be removed.

To quote the prescient Maya Angelou, “When someone tells you who they are, believe them.”
My corollary: “When a candidate tells you what he’s going to do in office, believe him.”
Kudos to the Harris-Walz campaign for *finally* pulling no punches. Keep it up until Election Day!

True! Important ad from the Harris campaign!
