Caesar’s wife must be above reproach. Samual Alitio is showing that he is beneath contempt.

I find it condescending of Alito to think that we will believe that he is unaware of the significance of the flags flown at his homes. If he is that unaware, then that is just one more reason he is unfit to remain on the court.

Thank you Steven!

Great idea for this post!

Of course Alito is doing this!

The flags are a signal of support of extremism for civilians and for Judges like Cannon. Also possible signal for Trump Immunity Case. In a way, Alito is a latter day Freisler-supporting the Dictator.

Thank you for reference. How did I miss this charmer?

Roland Freisler. Nazi party member, and judge, purportedly disliked by his so-called peers, killed in 1945 when an American bomber pilot had the distinct pleasure of effectively dropping a building on his sadistic and malicious ass.

Unloved and unmourned.

He was head Judge of Hitler’s Reich. Look at the decisions he rendered and the glee with which he did so. Further Alito has his wife in charge of ‘the flags,’ but brought us Dobbs where women have no control. Impunity personified.

As for Alito - that smug hypocrite. Wonder if his wife polishes his shoes.

Alito's declaration is a glaring display of arrogance. Hiding behind his marriage partner's "freedom of expression" is a weak excuse, and it speaks volumes of Alito as a man and as a life partner.

I am a professional. My wife is a professional in a different discipline. We both knew that a part of our relationship was honoring and supporting each other in our professions. That includes doing nothing that might cast doubt on the other's professional competence, integrity, and fairness. Many times, it would have been easy for one or the other of us to casually infer lack of support or understanding of the other's professal position.

If Justice Alito and his wife were unable to come to that kind of accord, it is far more damning than any mere spousal disagreement.

Mrs. Alito is currently granting interviews from underneath the Alito family bus.

Seriously, Justice Alito is saying he’s no justice in his own home and has no control over his rogue wife.

So let’s face it- he is a corrupt politician, not an impartial, non partisan judge, as is Clarence Thomas. And there is no way to get rid of either one of them until their deaths.

This is no way for a real democracy to function and certainly not to flourish.

Do you think that he thinks he is appealing to feminists? Anyone care to speculate if she'd been seen so approvedly independent if she'd put out a Black Lives Matter sign or Free Palestine Flag?

Naaah. He's just appealing to hypocrites, because he is really good at that.

The really fascinating thing is in yesterday's NYT Story. Look at the dates. Closely.

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/28/us/justice-alito-neighbors-stop-steal-flag.html?unlocked_article_code=1.vk0.T5VG.u3Qf51VshZtM&smid=url-share

Susan—My wife and I listened to the NYT podcast last night where they interviewed the neighbors who offended the mizzuz. Everything about it is just despicable (on the part of the Alitos, that is. I see nothing wrong with what the neighbors said or did—and they owned it, unlike the dissembling Alitos both him and her). The dates/timeline show that Alito’s recent public, written statement for how the insurrectionist “distress” flag ended up on their flagpole is entirely fabricated. That’s the problem with chronic, even pathological lying and dissembling: Once you start down that path, it’s almost impossible to stop. Alito is a walking, breathing example of cognitive dissonance in action.

If one believes that the Court’s legitimacy starts and ends with the small-d democratic principle of “the consent of the governed,” then it’s no wonder their approval rating is the lowest it’s been (58:41% disapprove vs. approve) since Gallop has been polling the public: https://news.gallup.com/poll/4732/supreme-court.aspx. And I’m guessing those numbers are BEFORE the flag-flying story broke.

Trump’s mob-boss mentality and lifestyle has now reached the hallowed halls of the US Supreme Court. Alito’s and Thomas’ attitude is basically a huge middle finger pointed at the American public and a bullhorn blaring, “Catch me if you can!” We’ll see how their arrogance is rewarded—or not—in November.

Justice Alito gives the APPEARANCE that he is bought and paid for. A Justice of the Supreme Court, one of the nine powerful leaders of the co-equal Judicial Branch, with a lifetime appointment, would be wise to give the APPEARANCE of impartiality. Generally, Justices have the reputation of displaying WISDOM. Not so in this case.

Justice Alito's wording of his questions in the Trump Immunity case gives the APPEARANCE that he is leaning toward granting Donald a pass on his lead role in the conspiracy to steal the Executive Branch of the Government. Not only is this unwise for a Justice who has pledged his oath and allegiance to the Constitution. It gives the APPEARANCE that he is a Trump Cult member.

Now, we can't conclude YET that he is bought and paid for and a member of the Trump Cult. But he is sure giving us the APPEARANCE that he is.

Alito is leading the pack now in BS .

Of course his condescending attitude is nothing less than what we could expect from him.

We need strong laws that require reinforceable ethics from Congress. The actions of these Maga Republican judges are undermining everything that Justice stands for .

Does he really think what he says is believable .? Probably not , but the truth is his arrogance shields him from

reality again . He and Thomas are not able to be unbiased in any ruling regarding the January 6 attempted coup.

Therefore should not have the ability to decide whether or not they are biased . It is already clear that they are and it has blinded them to the truth.

John Robert’s might want to exercise some leadership here and not allow this desperate lie to continue .

I’m not playing the odds on that .

What a mess they have made on the Court with their obvious and profound bias.

I refuse to believe that Alito is not smart enough to understand ethics or 'the appearance of fairness.' So I'm left with the opinion he lacks character... just another simpering whimpering man who blames his wife for his problems.
