We need EVERYONE, top to bottom, every creed, color and status, to STAND UP and SPEAK OUT like Mr. Pelley. I bet it won't be long and he will be 'unemployed' and starting a podcast or writing on Substack or writing a book. We must be fearless, even though we are afraid at times. I'll be on the street on 6/14 to hold a sign and give a thumbs up to the honkers going by and saying "thank you" to the bird-flippers (sarcastically). Smiling and standing tall with my other citizen warriors. All is not lost! Thanks to you Steven and many, many others who see clearly and speak out and act out.
More speaking of truth to power! There are many on Substack that are speaking truth. I get my daily dose of positivity from Steven Beschloss, Scott Dworkin, Dean Obeidallah, Jay Quo, and a few others.
Until millions of us turn out to protest, we won’t have relief from the tyranny. I’m hoping that June 14 brings out the 3.5% of citizens that are needed to effect change.
It doesn't need to be 3.5%- that is not set in stone, but is being treated as if it were. Those studies were done in small countries where street protest was by and large the only option. There are many people in the USA who are protesting in other very visible ways. All of them add strength to our resistance. Already the crowds of protesters are having an effect, and grow with each coordinated, dedicated day of dispersed protest. I am proud of what we are doing, and if we keep doing it, and keep doing it, and keep doing it, we will prevail.
of course she started out with mocking and ridiculing him like it was some big EVIL news Then said how the poor students at that university needed to be exposed to Scott Pelly!!!
It just amazes me the distorted twisted lens with which they view things . It just is not normal.
Well, she is doing what she thinks is necessary for her as a woman to be successful in the world I guess . Very misguided from what real integrity and values are and what our country is about and our constitution and our democracy..
She graduated from Albany law school !!
She is an attorney
Pretty scary, huh?
Mocking someone that is speaking up about free speech being taken away and all the other things that are going on in our country .
Their problem is not ignorance. It is a choice made based on the desire for power. Many if not most in Congress and the Senate are well educated — including law degrees from prestigious schools. About 1/2 the Senate and 30% or so of the House have law degrees. For example:
DeSantis, Harvard Law Class of 2005 (He went to Yale for college).
JD Vance got his law degree at Yale (as did Rep Josh Hawley).
Senator Ted Cruz, Harvard Law Class of 1995, after college at Princeton.
Senator Tom Cotton, Harvard Law Class of 2002.
Senator John Neely Kennedy graduated from Vanderbilt, got a law degree at University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Civil Law degree from Oxford. No one plays the ‘aw shucks’ hayseed bigger than he does.
I would like to see these law schools step up and denounce these people for not following the oath to support the constitution that they take to get their law degrees
American Bar Association should be doing something about these violations
Members of Congress have legislative immunity for things they say & do in the course of their work in Congress, otherwise political retribution would be a lot easier. Just goes to show, there isn’t any right that they can’t find a way to abuse.
He plays to the Louisiana maga crowed. He and Spkr Johnson. I detest watching him in hearings. He revels in racism whenever a person of color appears before a committee he serves on. 🤮
The Maya Angelou poem and Bruce Springsteen’s lyrics to “My City in Ruins” can inspire the future of resistance in our country. “C’mon, rise up.” Scott Pelley and all who have the ears of our young adults must get the message to them while we still have universities and while we still have rock concerts.
Scott has been speaking truth to power for some time. His courage and character was on display at Wake Forest, and was an example of a man who believes in the founding principles of our Democracy. Let his refusal to be silent, be an inspiration to every American who wishes to live in a Democracy, to find your way to do the same. American Democracy is under attack and will not survive without each of us standing up and speaking out.
A democracy is only as effective as people DO and are ALLOWED to participate in it! We have to be strong enough, brave enough, human enough, to stand up and make sure our voices our heard, our votes our counted, our lives are protected, and we CAN say what we need to say. We have to be part of what saves our democracy, for it may just save our lives...

Good one, Al. Thanks.
Truth!
Great column today, Steven!
Let's rise on June 14th.

More Scott Pelleys, more Harvards!

I agree, it will take as many as we can possibly get to change this evil regime.
I love Truth. I hate LIES.
YES
No research…no knowledge
Yes
Everything matters. Make sure your children know this and stand up.
Excellent insight again thank you so much
Megan Kelly the Maga podcaster
She talked about this speech that he made
of course she started out with mocking and ridiculing him like it was some big EVIL news Then said how the poor students at that university needed to be exposed to Scott Pelly!!!

Do not seek her for legal advice!!!

I know, isn’t it amazing?

...and yet Senator Kennedy persistently pursues a path of diversion. He will not speak willingly with honesty.
Mr Twain would have told us that "aw shucks" makes the path to truth more clear when that that first breath is taken
with and wisdom.

Thank You Steven and thank you Scott Pelley. Your remarks are a breath of fresh air.
Brava Scott Pelley, we must all speak out. Thinking this will go away or someone else will speak out. We must all do our part.
To paraphrase the former First Lady: “When they go low, we rise up!”
Great piece on truth and rising up
Thank goodness for the truth tellers.
I love Truth and hate lies.
