Congress has surrendered its authority over the budgets to Trump, which enables him to divert tax money to suppress the American people so........ instead of stopping to pay tax....... get after the elected representatives and sack them for neglecting their duty.......elect new ones who are willing to challenge Trump and fight for Congress to take back its roles, authorities and responsibilities..... Support opposition to Trump and his election rigging and VOTE (as long as it still can be done free and fair).
Very encouraging post. I have been thinking about the no representation part but needed a reminder that our taxes are funding this atrocious misuse of power. Looking forward to Saturday’s outpouring of resistance.
i have never thought much about paying my taxes. They were the price we paid for the help and protection the government gave us. Now with this "government" waging war against the Democrats and anyone upholding the rule law, it galls me to send money to a corrupt cabal that is ruining this country, coldly and callously destroying lives and livelihoods as they go about enforcing their "my way or the highway" agenda. We can only hope this national nightmare ends and we can return to some semblance of sanity. (Letter to the editor, Palm Beach Post)
“But it's not just what Trump won't do-what congressionally approved projects he won't fund. Equally egregious is what he is spending our money on instead.”
Protesting in huge numbers is important and I will be at my local protest. I still think it won't be enough and we need to protest by keeping our hard earned dollars and boycott Amazon, Walmart, Apple, Home Depot and all the other corporations who are supporting this regime. Hurting their profits will get their attention. There's less chance of actually being tear gassed as well.
Pretty soon no one will have a job and the 400+? oligarchs will have to pay taxes on all their AI run companies. If their companies are consumer driven best of luck because no one's left to buy their crap. How's that going to work out for them I wonder? Their money blindness may just "trump" them all... they will be sucked down by their whirlpool of greed.
I so agree. Americans need to stop buying stuff. We need to hurt them in a place they care about and that's their profits. Boycott Amazon, Walmart,Home Depot, Meta, Apple!
This has been my mantra since he's been in office. The whole budget system needs to be reworked and out of the hands of the president and his people. If I remember correctly President Biden said he would be the President for all people. I abhor spending my tax dollars on projects which harm and disrespect others. Officials should support healthcare. The system is costly and in our state you can't get get into the doctor of your choice for months.
Wise, painfully honest and thoughtful. I, too, recognize that my tax dollars are funding the atrocities of this regime. I won’t stop paying them, partly because I lack the courage to face the consequences of doing so, but also because I can assure myself that what I am doing to oppose this regime matters. The latter won’t wash my moral ledger clean but it’s something.
I'm awake and will be there tomorrow, peacefully resisting. I believe in Democracy, the Constitution, and the power of the people...and will continue to do so.
Still not enough of US saying ENOUGH! Especially here in UTAH where this crone will be participating in the Provo NO KINGS resistance: 2-4pm City Hall. 🇺🇸
So is this really anything new?? I think of the Trump administration as the end-game, the culmination of a process that's been going on my whole lifetime and longer. I was born in 1951. I came of political age around 1968 and started paying state and federal taxes around the same time. My taxes supported, among other things, the reign of J. Edgar Hoover at the FBI, the CIA's machinations to undermine democracy abroad, and of course the war on Indochina. The targets were primarily peoples of color and the white people who supported them.
With the Reagan administration the country took a sharp turn toward the right -- and the white. We've never recovered. The Democratic Party has been democracy's best bet since the white Southern Democrats turned Republican after the mid-1960s, but as best bets go, we could have done much, much better. Too many upper-level Democrats call Democrats working for social and economic justice "left" and even "far left." This is McCarthyism with a liberal face. Think of how the Democratic congressional leaders were caught so unawares by the advent of Trump II. Too bad they weren't listening more closely to the Dems they considered "leftists."
Now at long last we're all rallying to "save democracy," but what do we mean by that? Let's put some serious thought and effort in what we need to do to end the reign of Reagan/Bush/Trumpism once and for all and get this country back on the road to a truly democratic, inclusive, and just future.
In the immortal words of James Otis Jr. “taxation without representation is tyranny.” So yes, being that the Trump regime is using United States taxpayer dollars to terrorize U.S. citizens and immigrants, it is morally appropriate for Americans to withhold paying federal income taxes until its reign of terror ceases.
And there should also be an immediate and indefinite general strike across the nation until it stops, along with constant rallies and peaceful protests. And Democrats must not agree to work with Republicans to fund the federal government until it does.
Their inability and unwillingness to stand up to Trump for so long is partly why the nation is in the dire situation it is in. I realize that what I am advocating for could potentially lead to backlash against Democrats, but it is far riskier for Democrats to continue to play dead and do nothing to stop the regime’s fascist onslaught.
Sometimes I almost think that Schumer and Jeffries are deliberating waiting for the regime or its confederates to order a massacre of
peaceful protesters before they demand that it adhere to federal law and the United States Constitution because it would be far easier for them to do politically, at that point.
I could certainly understand the reasoning behind that mindset, but it is not what good leaders do when there are clearly far better alternatives.
Very sadly, I predict that there will be massacres this weekend throughout the country at various No Kings rallies, quite possibly even at the one being held in downtown Chicago. I sure hope that I’m wrong.
Trump is a deranged, demented, despised, petrified, desperate despot and probably a pedophile, which makes him uniquely dangerous.
Hence, after he likely orders peacefully protesting Americans slaughtered tomorrow or some sickos commit stochastic acts of terrorism on his behalf because of his or his regime’s propaganda machine’s reckless rhetoric, it will be the beginning of the end for him and his regime and the end of Schumer’s time as Senate Democratic Leader and maybe Jeffies’s tenure as House Democratic Leader as well.
And Trump will likely pardon pedophile and sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell in a few days, in order to discourage her from blowing the lid off of him about being a pedo perv. He pardoned George Santos last night in a pathetic attempt to distract from the Epstein coverup and his sagging approval ratings.
When the Epstein files are released in a few days, I predict that Trump will be revealed as a pedophile if they have not been tampered with by his bastardized Justice Department.
Moreover, the American economy is on the brink of collapse and U.S. intelligence agencies have been so gutted by the regime that there could easily be another 9/11-type terrorist attack in the U.S. in the not so distant future.
The likely coming backlash and outrage from most Americans who opt to vote in congressional and presidential elections, due to what the regime is prepping to do and has already done, might be so immense and intense that the Texas Republican redistricting gambit and the corrupted and compromised U.S. Supreme Court striking down Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, in the near future, because it wants the U.S. to be permanently fascist, may all be for naught.
Tomorrow may end up being a “Day of Infamy,” as much as December 7, 1941 and September 11, 2001 were. But it may also be the last gasp of a reviled, failing dictatorship in its final throes.
The regime is badly misreading a large majority of Americans if it thinks that most Americans want their compatriots slaughtered by other Americans because they may disagree with their policy preferences or political ideologies.
Its fascist miscreants may find that out the hard way upon being hauled off to prison, after being convicted by a jury of their peers, for committing crimes against humanity and other serious crimes.
Apparently the retribution tour in our name that we are funding is not limited to the US.
• Argentina’s Milei is a pal, adored by maga part of the mutual admiration society. He gets a promise of $20B to prop up his party in the mid-terms on October 26. (DJT’s threat to ‘not be so generous’ if the results don’t go that way pushed the Argentine Peso down some & created anger.) Maybe another $20B later.
• Venezuela & MX are not compliant, not pals. Venezuela like CAN is not a major source of drugs to the US. Its civilian boats are bombed anyway. DJT confirmed the CIA is there & he’s considering ground operations. (On the job for less than a yr, top Admiral over Caribbean suddenly resigned.
• Threats to bomb inside MX were revived in this 2nd term. Now it is cast as potential part of the ‘war against cartels’ — despite continuing joint cooperation efforts. This is not unlike the cities the WH targets that already have joint task forces with the feds, state & local law enforcement.

Deplorable, despicable, horrible people.
