I am again shell shocked by the insanity that surrounds Trump. After several peaceful years with Biden at the helm I was finally relaxing. I remember a psychiatrist once told me whenever he walked into a psych ward floor and everyone who worked there was yelling at each other, he knew a bipolar patient had just been present to create such chaos. I am not diagnosing DT but wherever he goes chaos and misery follow. Why does anyone support him for leadership? I am exhausted and the entire story of this gunman makes no sense. We will never know the reality except it changed the headlines from Laura Loomer

My first full time non-seasonal job was in a psychiatric hospital with open wards. What you say has the ring of truth. I’ll add that if the guy in charge can’t take advice or doesn’t follow the rules, chaos or worse follows. Every major disruption or incident occurred after someone in charge had at least one “I know better” moment. That doesn’t stop someone like Donnie who is a rule breaker, cherry picks advice and takes advantage of the results.

I learned something else also. People who live in their own alternate universe don’t play by our rules. Otherwise logic and reason would be ‘cures’.

And it stopped the Harris/Walz positive headlines not only for the day, but likely all this week and puts the limelight back on trump.

Like attracts like. I hope CFDT has a taster for his pablum. He is such a terrible candidate, and losing, if I were him I'd be more worried about my friends than liberals. We progressives love CFDT as a loser, we want to keep him around until the election... then off to prison for a little deserved rest.

Certainly seems like it. Before any law enforcement agency, like local sheriffs, the FBI, or Secret Service had made public statements, TFG posted on Truth Social that he was safe and fine, and of course, included donation links.

We grew up learning that one cannot yell, "Fire!" in a crowded movie theater for fear of causing a stampede of people toward the exits that results in injury and death. Yet here we are with the Republican presidential candidates screaming fire on a daily basis. And people are continually at risk of dying.

It is despicable. It is the lowest rung of human behavior--causing harm to those who are no threat to you at all.

As Walz supports - “mind your own damn business!”

The people of Springfield, OH, are a threat to NO ONE! Some people like to continuously stir lives up! Trump/Vance are members of that MAGA Club?

Real truth is coming out! All of this pet menu is a made-up LIE!

What an ugly action by Trump and Vance. Shame on both of them for trying to deceive the people of Ohio and the nation! Yet, very hurtful for the people and children of the town.

Violence is a contagious. (Experts working on prevention use public health models.) That is a major reason why hate speech and other violent rhetoric is dangerous. It disrupts our norms, inflames our fears and incites bad actors. It suppresses reason.

I’m grateful the Secret Service spotted the gun barrel and were able to take action before Donald J. Trump was present. I’m afraid Donald J. Trump and, or those around him, will believe he is truly invulnerable; protected by the hand of god. That he will continue to set the country on fire rhetorically and then continue to reject security advice as JFK did with a similar result — as well as endanger totally innocent people in the “wrong” place at the “wrong” time.

Prior to the incident in FL on Sunday:

— Trump has already publicly floated the idea of visiting Springfield, including during a press conference that he held in California on Friday. However, if a visit by the Republican nominee does eventually happen, it will likely not be at the invitation of the city's top officials. — WLWT5 (Cincinnati)

"We should be reminded on this day and every day between now and the election that political leaders at the highest levels have a fundamental responsibility to discourage a climate of violence."

This includes people who aren't elected but are none the less leaders in the public eye.

Yesterday, Elon Musk, the richest man in the world with a following of 198 million people said this...

"And no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala."

The insinuation being that it's not fair that people aren't going after Biden/Kamala too. There is no doubt that somewhere someone will take this up as a serious consideration.

In today's political environment where political violence is evolving and being looked at as a viable tool this kind of "free speech" cannot be ignored.

I can remember when tffg first ran for office that there were pundits who warned against stoking a climate of hate for "the other", that it would eventually be turned against the original promoters of this sentiment.

And here we are. Martin Niemöller's poem comes to mind -- "First they came for (fill in the blank), and I did not speak out....".

So much for evolution.

So, we have the violent rhetoric by TFG for years and it leads to violence. Most obviously, but am sure there are earlier examples, but the attack on the US Capitol and democracy itself on J6, 2021. The rhetoric has ramped up out of desperation by TFG, Vance, MAGA, and the campaign because they have no policies worth a damn to stand on. They could be beating the economy to death because too many people don't understand it enough other than food is higher, so give TFG the advantage here because they really don't know better.

In the debate, TFG point blank blamed "they" as he pointed to Harris for the assassination attempt in PA back in July. Yesterday, in a post since taken down from X, Elon Musk posited, "And no one has attempted to assassinate Biden/Harris?" It has also been reported that the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire, in another tweet that has also since been taken down, posted, "Anyone who murders Kamala Harris is an American hero." Seriously, WTF?

It doesn't do any good to delete posts like that. Within seconds of being posted, it has already been widely shared and screen printed. They know exactly what they're doing. Just like Trump's all caps post, "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT" will predictably result in an increase of threats to her. He deleted it, but the damage was already done.

I think I need to read today's words a couple more times. We are starved for truth, peaceful conversations, trust in public conversations and activity. Personally, I am tired of feeling like I have to pull on the armour to be out in public, much less share what I'm thinking with friends who I used to not even hesitate to share an opinion. We simply dwelt in love and trust back in the day. Trump and his sickness has staggered our lives and caused such a severe division between us that I am afraid we won't ever retrieve what we had and took for granted. It hurts, no matter how you consider the losses. I hope we have the energy that it will take to recover post-Trump. Some days life feels like children's books such as "The Little Train That Could" or even "The Emperor's New Clothes"...I'm pretty sure there are many such fit titles. Anyway - thank you for more clear thoughts to consider on this shaking day. I'm going to go fold laundry, bake cookies, embroider a block for a baby quilt and live life quietly.

I realize that all of us here are biased, and this is probably going to sound like a rant, but it's clear who is stoking political violence. Let us not forget that a man with 2 firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition showed up at Obama's home in DC after Trump posted what he said was Obama's home address on social media. Then there was the incident in 2018 where a Florida man sent 13 pipe bombs through the mail to Democrats and other prominent Trump critics. And when given a chance to denounce bomb threats that have been occurring in Springfield due to lies from Trump and Vance about Haitian immigrants eating pets, he refused. In fact, his running mate was on 2 of the Sunday shows doubling down, even shockingly admitting if he has to "make up" stories to get the media to pay attention to the "suffering" of Americans that he's going to do so. Not to mention the worst case of political violence in our nation's history since the Civil War, the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on our Capitol. Yes, violence has no place in our political discourse and both sides need to take a step back and consider their rhetoric. Sadly, I have no confidence Trump will change his ways.

So much drama. , the pandemic, the Capitol insurrection, the impeachments, the felony counts, Fani Willis, Biden mental lapses, God and Pelosi persuading Biden to give it up, a black-Asian woman candidate, the rallies, the assassination attempts---on & on it goes, where it stops, nobody knows. Meanwhile, China posing a threat to the Philippines, ramming ships, eying Taiwan, (possible war for America), ongoing battles, murder, destruction in Ukraine as Putin warns against using Am. weapons to bombard Russia (possible war for America). Unrelenting Netanyahu, 41,000 Palestinian deaths, 95,000 injuries in Gaza , polio outbreak, while Iran shoots at our ships in the Red Sea (possible war for America). So much time is devoted by a president for foreign affairs. Candidates should be talking about them and those dangers we face. Won't matter how much Mom pays for eggs if her boy goes off to war. But here we are condemning immigrants, stooping to lows discussing eating dogs, no condemnation of guns, used to school shootings, enduring heat and fires, and sick to death of this nonending political nonsense.

We await what is next. Oh, if we only had England's problem. Poor Prince Harry no longer allowed by his father to occupy Frogmore.

We live in a country where we have freedom of expression, but not freedom of thought. So:

The Republican vice-presidential nominee can admit to making up stories about poor immigrants eating pets without consequence, even though bomb threats are made as a result of his words and schools have to be evacuated.

The Republican presidential nominee can issue a public statement about his hatred for a popular, young female singer who has endorsed his opponent, a statement which is designed to rile up his supporters and is as clear a threat as any.

We genuflect before an incorrect interpretation of the 2nd. Amendment and refuse to ban weapons of war from our streets, even though little children are being slaughtered in our schools.

We gauge the value of books and movies by the amount of revenue they generate, without considering the consequences of having generations brainwashed into believing that the only difference between the good guy and the bad guy is that the good guy fires the last bullet.

It's time we demand better of ourselves, don't you think?

Check your family and friends to see whether any have been contacted by a poll taker! Never in that group but are they?

Many of these polls are NOT legitimate. Polling is a science! Many takers are not trained in info gathering. Some of the questions are not scientific or serious! Delicate science that must be done properly to get the results. Not legitimate if under 1,000 taking poll! Basic.
