To confront this, we need new and better thinking and leadership, as problematic as that might be at this perilous time. If there’s a plan, the time is now.

Both of those individuals are not just unqualified but are actively trying to destroy our country. I fear that we are in for the darkest years in our nation's history.

John Dean’s comments are worth noting, but there’s difference between Nixon and Trump: The public.

Back then, Americans were shocked at what Nixon was doing. Now, a too-large number of Americans think what Trump is doing is perfectly fine. While some of us will try to sway Republican senators into upholding their oath to the Constitution and not to Trump, millions of others won’t.

Steven, just like Trump. Every accusation is a projection and a plan for exactly what they want to do. Every grievance is a cry out to be lived and recognized, so the only way to be recognized is to act with increasing outrage and vengeance against those who are more respected. Every claim of defense of the country is a plan to destroy every bit of the Constitution and rule of law. Every populist claim about rising prices will only be made worse by an oligarchy in control.

The fact that enough people in key states voted for this wanna-be dictator, shows they are clueless about what is about to befall them…and all of us.

But fight we must and fight we will. I will not be shocked to see our country riddled by civil war within 2 years at most. The sucking sound of those who can go to Canada or Europe or Australia and NZ will not just be sure we do not like Trumpism and Fascism, but to protect our families.

Parroting comic strip character Pogo from our distant past, "I have seen the terrorists and they are us." Trump's goal is NOT to build a better America or keep the one we have. His goal is to destroy the United States so that he can lord over the corpse. Men of malice behave maliciously. There is no sating the ego of a madman. He trumpets about "the enemy within" when in fact he and his sidekicks are that enemy.

A majority of the electorate has voted for fascism. They have brought the fulfillment of the dream of Federalist, Nationalists, Theists, and all our enemies. They cannot claim ignorance. Not when he has publicly and repeatedly told all of us what he plans for us. The Heritage Foundation released ahead of time, their Project 2025, and Kevin Robert's delivered his ultimatum that we submit to their government or face a new Revolutionary war. A threat that is nearly verbatum that of Jefferson Davis a few years back .

There is little to no chance that enough Republican Senators will be able to grow a spine between now and then to prevent the destruction of democracy. I hope they prove me wrong.

Vought and Patel are the tip of the iceberg .

Clearly these are just two of the deranged people that the traitor plans to put in charge of portions of their government. While in the long run it would hurt innocent people and I would be accused of cutting off my nose to spite my face, the government employees affected should resign en masse. Let’s see these deranged people run the government without the career, dedicated individuals.

From all of the indicators I've seen, this article is spot on. Their goal is not to run the government, it is to destroy it. Seen in that light, they are perfect for their jobs.

I think Vought has delusions of being a forever founder of new government, an evil Madison or Jefferson. He will cut social security upon which millions depend. trump will care not, he told his nephew to just let his disabled son die.

The FBI needs to go after people like Gabbard & trump himself( which they did & why he hates them.) Patel is chomping at the bit to take down anyone trump names. He will brag about each one, hopefully leading to a downfall. He is a brute, belongs in a drug cartel.

Kennedy has a network of miswired, misfiring neurons. McMahon, Ed, has a history of abusing children. They are all crazy but Vought & Rubio. They know trump is ignorant, knows nothing of governing. Rubio wants the job. Vought will manipulate trump for his own ends. A gift from God probably a private joke

I used to believe the Democrats stood for helping others, less fortunate, needy.Every parent's wish was to work hard & send children to college.People now have turned away from educated who seem only to help themselves. Imagine how Biden's pay college debt went over.We knew he couldn't win, but was like pulling teeth to get him out. Stubborn, proud. We've got to stop that, go back to what we once stood for so when the masses see trump is doing nothing for them, they will return to us.

Trump’s embracing of fascism is not surprising. Let me suggest his trek to victory began 415 years ago with the Beaver Wars that started in 1609 and lasted for more than 90 years.

This was the first major conflict between Native Americans and Europeans. But that war over animal pelts was just the precursor of countless conflicts – small and large – between Native Americans and invading settlers that went on for more than 300 years, not really ending until the 1920s.

The trump supporters, I suggest, are little different from the American soldiers who, under the orders of President Jackson and the “Indian Removal Act,” forced tens of thousands of Native Americans to leave their land and move to areas west of the Mississippi River, including the Cherokee, whose forced relocation is known as the “Trail of Tears.”

Perhaps many of the trumpers do not have a direct genealogical link to those who fought in those conflicts, but they have an attitudinal relationship to the hatred so many whites have demonstrated for more than three centuries to minorities. And while these sentences point to the conflicts with Native Americans, we can easily add conflcts against African Americans, those from China and other Asian nations, immigrants from Central and South America – frankly almost any spot on the planet.

Hatred abounds in this land and trump and his fascist fools are only the latest.

Steve, you note that Vought “has talked about employing the Insurrection Act to crack down on protests, prioritizing Christianity in government and making all government departments subservient to the will of the president.” Sadly, Native Americans and so many others have heard words like these for centuries.

And Biden may naively think his son will stay out of jail but Trump will probably put both Joe and Hunter in the gulag. . . . Joe's lie that he wouldn't issue the pardon is like his lie to the country about not seeking a 2nd term.

No one has commented on President Biden's pardon for his son. So, if you don't mind, I will. The President did the right thing as president and as a father. Everything he said about the charges and the trial was true. I thought something was amiss at the time of Hunter's trial, and the imposed sentence was way over the top. Besides, if the dumpster is immune to grievous violations of law, why go after someone whose crimes were a bit petty?

Unfortunately, I am going to copy and paste rather than re-write my post today. It is about Patel, Trump, and of course Putin. This message below is from my Substack and today's message is called: From Democracy to Democrazy to Dictatorship. Trump's Path to Fascism.

"Noah Berlatsky wrote on Substack this morning that “Kash Patel’s nomination signals how bad things can get. Patel is considered unqualified for the post even by staunch Trump-supporting conservatives. He’s made it clear he intends to use his power to attack the “deep state,” which he frames as a needed populist purge of a corrupt establishment. But in reality, Patel is poised to use the resources of the FBI to target Trump’s political opponents and criminalize resistance.”

I lived and worked in Moscow, Russia shortly after Putin was elected. Wikipedia wrote: “The government (Russia) dominates the media landscape by controlling the majority of the national television networks, radio and print outlets, and media advertising markets, either directly or through state-owned enterprises. A Newsweek reporter named Isabel van Brugen, said: “For over two decades, President Vladimir Putin has squeezed dissent in Russia. Critics, journalists, and defectors have faced dire consequences after opposing him. From poisonings, to shootings, mysterious falls from windows, and even plane crashes, there is a long trail of silenced voices. The number of journalists killed in contract-style murders by Putin’s government varies. To give you a few examples: (1) Anna Politkovskaya, age 48, was shot in her apartment building in Moscow, (2) Alexei Navalny, age 47, was poisoned and then died in a Siberian Penal Colony, (3) Mikhail Lesin, age 57, he was found dead in a Washington, D.C. hotel room, (4) Boris Berezovsky, age 67, was found dead in his home in Berkshire, England, (5) Sergei Magnitsky, ages 67 was arrested, imprisoned, and denied medical treatment. He died in custoday following severe beatings. His death led to the passing of the Magnitsky Act in the United States. (6) Stanislav Markelov, age 34, was assassinated in Moscow by a gunman who also killed journalist Anastasia Baburova, age 25. (7) Natalia Estemirova, age 50, death method unknown, (8) Yuri Shchekochikhin, age 53, was a jounalist and a member of the Russian State Duma. He was investigating corruption, organized crime, and human rights abuses by the Putin government. His cause of death is unknown, but poison was suspected. This is a short list of those voices seeking truth in Russia - many of which were imprisoned first then killed. From Russian acquaintances and friends who dare to speak about this subject, the last number of journalists murdered was 85.

TIME 100 Edition, June 2022 wrote the most influential Persons of 2021-2022. “This edition includes the Russian dictator (Putin) behind a brutal war, and his foe, the Ukrainian President Zelensky whose leadership has made him a rare heroic figure in our divisive time.” (From Democracy to Democrazy, page 174). The description of President Zelensky was written by President Bidern. The description of Putin was written by Alexei Navalny. He states: “Perhaps Putin’s true mission is to teach lessons. To everyone - from world leaders and pundits to ordinary people. He has been especially good at this in 2022. He reminded us - the world - that once again a path that begins with ‘just a little election rigging’ always ends with a dictatorship.” When I read this statement, all I could think of was Trump’s call (which was taped) to Brad Raffensperger (R), the Secretary of State for Georgia pressuring him to ‘just find about 11,780 votes’ in order to overturn the 2020 presidential election. He goes on to say “Putin has reminded us all of the ‘duck test’ if something looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck. The very same logic should be applied in this case if someone destroys the indepedentent media, organizes political assassinations, and sticks to his imperial delusions, then he is a madman capable of causing a bloodbath in the center of Europe in the 21st century. . . “ Then he goes on to say “the answer to the main question he poses - how to stop an evil madman with an army, nuclear weapons, and membership in the U.S. Security Council - is yet to be answered.”

It is Donald Trump himself who fits this description, and he has used the word “bloodbath” more than once.

Since 2015, I have noticed the many similarities between Putin’s leadership and Trump. I have attempted to warn the American public about these resemblances and comparisons. However, nothing has been more alarming than when Trump said “If I am elected there won’t be future elections.” (“The Guardian”, July 30, 2024.) Now he has nominated Kash Patel as a possible leader for the FBI. The purpose of Patel’s role is to identify and imprison any journalist, Democratic leader, or others who oppose Trump. There cannot possibly be a more undemocratic resolution or a more closer resemblance to Putin.

Putin’s dictatorship began in 2000 when he was sworn into the Presidency for a six year term. Almost 25 years later, he is still ruling Russian with an iron fist and a languorous soul. His revenge against anyone who opposes him is now legendary. At least 25 journalists’ deaths were in direct retaliation for their reporting.” (*AI Overview/PBS, September 26, 2023) One reporter was shot right outside of my Moscow apartment building. Her blood staining the dirty Moscow winter snow-covered sidewalk. Her body stayed there an entire day, but was gone the next morning. An elderly neighbor told me she was a reporter, but she didn’t know her name and warned me to not ask. She mentioned that this demonstrates a return to the time of Stalin in Russia. Stalin was estimated to have killed at least twenty million people through a ruthless repressive government. Hitler killed and tortured six million humans - mostly Jews, but created WWII which was estimated to have killed 75 to 85 million soldiers, civilians, and others. Putin is well on his way to compete with these men, and due to the war in Ukraine has an estimated kill rate over 2 million souls. I wonder how many people will die once Trump takes absolute control of the United States government?

In 1997, a book in Russia was published called The Foundations of Geopolitics. I read it in Russian. It clearly explains to the entire world, the goals, objectives, and methodologies that Putin will use in his presidency to gain complete and absolute control of Russia, and restore Russia’s power structure worldwide. His design is to install a “Soviet” model, whereby leadership in other countries is a man or woman who is loyal to Russia. In the United States this man is Donald Trump. Project 2025 is similar in many ways and outlines the process for Trump to control all aspects of the American government. In 1933, Hitler wrote Mein Kampf, an autobiographical book that also outlines his dictatorship plans. As I said before, it is actually very simple. These three books imposes, implants, inculcates, and inseminates the will of one man over the lives of millions of others.

If Americans do not heed this warning, our country will quickly slip into the same type of government found in Russia and those who voted for Trump will not even realize what has happened until an American-style gestapo knocks on their door OR they know of someone who was poisoned or shot, OR World War III begins and their sons and daughters are dying in unnecessary military battles around the world."

In choosing to appoint the very worst people to head our most important institutions - the ones responsible for education, defense, intelligence, health, law and administration - Trump is telegraphing his intention to destroy this country from within. There could be no other motive for this madness.

The Republican senators may provide a semblance of resistance to these efforts by denying one or two of these nominations, but Trump will ride roughshod over this bunch of cowards and ensure that his goons are appointed, if not to the top jobs, then to those that do not require confirmation.

These Republican senators, these abject cowards without a shred of conscience between the lot of them, could have stopped Trump during his impeachments or after his coup attempt. Instead, they've chosen to genuflect before him.

Our mainstream press has proved complicit by playing footsie with Trump. How can we possibly depend on them to stand for the truth?

Let's not kid ourselves: unimaginable evil is to be unleashed upon us and upon the world. So how do we counter this in the face of the apathy of the majority among us who could not be bothered to so much as vote? How do we reach them? Of course, Trump is going to help when the evidence of his intentions is made palpable: his laws are killing women now; but children are soon to start dying as well.

We need to start organizing now so that we will be prepared, when the time is right, to mobilize in overwhelming numbers, and to do so nonviolently for as long as it takes, in order to shut this country down. The oligarchs who are funding the regime will only pay attention when their economic health is threatened.

I hope the heads of our military forces are paying close attention and are having serious discussions amongst themselves. As a first step, they must commit themselves to disregarding any orders that are illegal. Or do we need to remind them that they have sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution?

2 thoughts:

• Patel got his foot in the door by working for former congressman Nunes who sent him to make connections and work on Benghazi etc. Evidently he knew how to worm his way in without acting like a maniac or goofball. (Nunes left Congress to run truth social.) Patel is the one who claimed to a grand jury that the Orange Menace “declassified everything.”

• It is a sign of bad things to come when the court jester brings in a flock of loons with 1-2 smarter ones. They always need 1 or 2 smarter ones to orchestrate the destruction.

Hungry Beast

Fifty years it has been hidden

growing slowly this menace

then suddenly it plowed

into us like a tank

brought us to our knees.

This beast who stalked

is on our back, biting

the nerves in our spine.

I want to name this beast

for you, but I don’t know it.

I can feel its teeth puncture,

smell its stench, hear crushing,

taste the blood of all I love

filling the streets… while flights

of fancy dance in memory

of what and who we were.

This thing on us needs mercy.

Without mercy this beast

grows hungrier. Mercy,

emotion’s vitamin D,

is a substance a body

cannot make without

its mind receiving light.

Make sure as dark clouds hover

you turn on every light possible.

What is upon us needs mercy.

Well, what did anyone expect? But, I wonder, is this real fascism … or, like Trump and Patel and Vought, wannabe fascism?

Fascism requires a belief in something, a political stance; here is just a driving need for adulation, power and money. Also to stay out of jail.
