Will I stand up for the right to protest? Hell yeah! As the saying goes, “peaceful protest is patriotic!” Together we will, we must resist these demonic lunatics who, facilitated by their craven sycophants, have brought our country to the brink of collapse.

Amen!

Fascism intimidates with scale mobilizing thousands of troops into a small, peaceful area is a way to make people feel small and powerless. Trump seeks precedents for future illegal use of military to suppress protests against his tyrannical rule. This is right out of the dictators playbook. At this point, the media is fully complicit in not calling these actions out for what they are: this isn’t law and order, it’s authoritarian rule.

Still think calling this a dictatorship is hyperbolic? 🤔

Sadly, Trumpers are not concerned about the consequences of domestic deployment of the military or Constitutionality, and more guided by "these people piss me off and Trump is going to show them who's boss"

The MAGA cult is so dumb... they sincerely believe bone spurs is solving a real threat. It’s laughable and yet so troubling... 🤦‍♀️

What could be more fascist than Trump using his own gestapo to take over the American cities?

Remember: Peaceful protest are our 1st Amendment RIGHT. We are protesting Trump’s MAGA Tyranny EVERYDAY!

Tee I wear regularly: "We the People will NOT comply with tyranny". This one 👇

It takes far more energy to hate rather than to love. Let’s just wear them down, exhaust them, embarrass them (if that’s possible) and celebrate our country at the No Kings Rally next Saturday!

They aren't dumb. They rationalize and feel like part of a club. Everyone hates "the other." And allies go along with the terrorizing.

I’m normally a supportive observer of events such as No Kings Day, but Substack writer David Gate’s piece today has inspired me to participate in the protest in my town next Saturday. I’ve forwarded it several friends from my progressive Presbyterian church with the hopes that we can attend together.

Thank you for more inspiration today, Steven.

I think the comedy shows and comedians showing scenes of peaceful Portland and Chicago juxtaposed against videos of the Trump cabinet’s ludicrous claims is very helpful. Keep showing this stuff! It’s very effectively showing what fools Trump and his cabinet members are.

Led by that weenie Mike Johnson, Republicans are calling the October 18 No Kings rallies “Hate America” rallies attended by terrorists.

Excuse me. I will participate in our local rally because I love the Constitution and Bill of Rights, and the rule of law which together have made America a great country.

I am an American Patriot, not a terrorist. If one wants to see terrorists, watch Stephen Miller, Noem, Homan and their ICE henchmen.

I am getting angry.

I’m trying to get people from my progressive church to come with me and protest. Some said they would but they are scared to. Others are too busy. Some are too old. Lots of excuses. It’s ridiculous. I try to them that our freedoms are evaporating and will go away if we don’t show up and speak up!

I stand up for peaceful protest on a street corner in Dallas every Saturday from 12-1 and a different corner on Sunday from 12-1. Typically we get around 50 people who regularly come with their signs protesting what is happening to this country. Last Sunday we had 80 people attend, some who were driving by and stopped to participate when they saw what we are doing. Many are on walkers and some bring small children. We won’t look away and we want to make certain that the people who live in Dallas don’t look away either.

A great way to create a community presence. Here, outside the city, we joined Tesla protestors every Saturday while Elon was perched in the WH. It grew from a dozen or so to over 50. We need to do it in costume now. (So far a projectile free zone where the police just drive by. Much safer for my asthma.)

I am driving my trans daughter and ex-wife to the downtown of our biggest city and I'm staying in my vehicle and in the area so I can get to them quickly if there's violence. I am going to pack lots of water and first aid just in case. We all need to contact our representatives and governors to demand protection from Ice, border patrol, and MAGA operatives who believe the Republican lies about our protected, peaceful protests. Thank you Steven.

Why don’t Democrats say outrageous things about the GOP? If we want to reach the general population, that is what we need to do. We actually do need to fight fire with fire.

The thing is, any outrageous thing Democrats would say about Trump and the GOP would be True - unlike the patently false smears they make about the Democrats. Whatever it says about the American public - however much we wish it weren’t true - they want Blue bulldogs going after the throats of the corrupt and fascist Republican Party, its government and its billionaire funders. They are blind to the strength it takes to be fair, reasonable, genuine. I want Democrats to get inside the heads of voters. Right now, we’re barely in the same room. Democrats, Come On. Let’s show the public that we are tougher than they ever imagined.

As I have written elsewhere any military National Guard who are swore to protect the Constitution, Police or Sheriff forces swore to protect the law abiding citizens, and people who want to support free speech, democracy and our Inalienable Rights should come, place any weapons on the ground between their legs as a show of solidarity with non-violent demonstration, lock arms with each other as a barrier to anyone or force sent to break up the peaceful assembly and refuse to let them pass or interfere. We the civilians, law enforcement and military are in this together suffering loss of freedom and economic well-being because of the Republican immoral actions to deny care to the less fortunate, good education for everyone, and shut-down of the federal government and FEMA and other relief for the coming victims of the Northeastern storm damage and any other catastropies during the shutdown.

the audience for this event isn't the people in power in Washington. They won’t notice and they wouldn’t care if they did. But there are three important audiences for this demonstration. Each audience needs to hear a clear message:

The audience: The people on the front line who are fighting for democracy right now. The message: We have your back.

The audience: The elected officials who are waffling. The message: We’re taking names and we’re going to vote.

The audience: You, your friends and your neighbors who are being beaten down by waking up to some new fresh hell every morning. The message: You are not alone and, together, we are not powerless.
