I hope all people who have suffered in this devastating hurricane, and all of the politicians who have tried to politicize everything, recognize what the federal government can do when we put aside red and blue labels and ideologies, and work with reason and fairness and honesty and compassion for the good of all Americans.

Seems like Mother Nature's judgement (trial and sentencing) is swift.

DeSantis voted against money for New England after a hurricane in 2013. Now he wants federal funds for Florida. And, after he gets it (because Biden is a good man) he'll go back to his MAGA lies about Democrats. I normally donate to the Red Cross after disasters, but I just can't this time.

Living in Bradenton, FL, I was very fortunate, I did not lose electricity tho others did, and had I not looked out the window, the only knowledge of a storm was listening to the wind whistling "Stormy Weather." Keep in mind that Florida is somewhat unlike other southern states. Residents, winter visitors are from all states, Canadians, the UK, even former Russian countries. So there is a mixture of thoughts on governance. True Floridians, born, raised here (DeSantis one) still call it The War Between The States, slavery not the issue, and think the South will rise again.The blue givers and red takers makes me think of WW II and its aftermath. The US was most generous, compassionate with its Lend/Lease program, billions of dollars, mainly intended for Britain and the Soviet Union. Tho no return was expected after war ended, Britain made its last repayment in 2006. Russia repaid with some grain, minerals, and the Cold War.Thus, aid for Florida and Ian by a caring president who said he represents ALL of the people, but little care for Sandy by a trump protege. The old saying remains true: what is yours is mine, what's mine is my own. Perhaps you missed the few seconds of self interest when the gov stepped back to let someone else speak at news conference, his primary interest was how he presented as he looked at self in camera, adjusted his suit and shirt collar.
