I like presidents who aren’t convicted felons.

The Wizard of Oz has been revealed to have no heart, no brain, and no courage. The curtain fell because a jury of his peers followed the evidence and found Trump guilty.

Excellent analogy. Well done.

This is a perfect summation of the day Steven. Especially this paragraph:

"For the first time in his life, Donald Trump has been held accountable for his criminal conduct. This is a sad day when we reflect that a man like this ever occupied our White House. This is also a day to celebrate justice and the rule of law."

I’m so grateful our Justice system held strong. As we must continue to”strong” and do everything we can to prevent a Convicted Felon from being elected.

Excerpt from Steven Beschloss:

“The coming weeks will be a fierce and assuredly painful test of our American system and the rule of law. This is about Donald Trump, but it’s more about the legitimacy, credibility and solidity of a government defined by its commitment to laws, not any man.”

RECKONING

Guilty on all counts, the verdict is clear,

A mogul's empire crumbling, his future austere.

A plot to silence the tempest, to keep his power intact,

Now exposed in the courtroom, a sordid act.

The jury saw through the veil of deceit,

Trump's kingdom of lies, now facing defeat.

Twelve hours of deliberation, a judgment decreed,

The tycoon's corruption, for all to see.

Once untouchable, his armor now cracked,

Caught in a web of his own making, his crimes stacked.

Records distorted, a tower of lies,

His ascent and descent, a tale for all time.

"A witch hunt!" he cried, his voice filled with spite,

Excuses and blame, his usual flight.

But the truth, like a tempest, cannot be tamed,

Piercing through rhetoric, his bluster defamed.

Biden's team grinned, as justice prevailed,

A criminal's dreams, like sand, curtailed.

"No one stands above the law," they did say,

"Face the people, if you can, your disgrace on display."

Hush money paid, secrets concealed,

In books of deception, the truth revealed.

Stormy and Karen, once whispered names,

Now center stage, in a court of shames.

Cohen's account, a treacherous scheme,

Allegiance betrayed, caught in the seam.

Eleven false records, each a deceit,

To hide a debt, to keep his position sweet.

"Handle it," the order from on high,

A command cloaked in falsehood, not honor's tie.

Trump's dread of revelation, of public scorn,

Spawned this farce, this plan forlorn.

From shadow corporations to presidential suites,

A twisted web of lies, in executive feats.

Weisselberg's untruths, now part of the tale,

Each doctored record, a step towards the jail.

Stormy's words, a chronicle of unease,

A night that unmasked the man, his true face.

A hotel, a chamber, a misguided quest,

His true nature exposed, in a lurid test.

"This plan," Steinglass declared, "was the core,

Of his victory, his rise, his disgraceful lore."

Now, the judgment is rendered, the jury has decreed,

Trump's bastion of deceit, forever impeded.

E. Jean Carroll, Stormy Daniels, and Michael Cohen,

Brave souls who stood tall, when the truth was stolen.

They faced the storm, the fury, and the fray,

To bring the tyrant to justice, to make him pay.

Their courage, a beacon, in this darkest hour,

Reminding us all, of truth's unyielding power.

Listening to the litany of protestations of multiple legislators causes me to wonder what kind of people do we have in politics! Donald Trump was never a nice, empathetic, person who had knowledge in the business of making our country function well, fairly or with strategies to continue our efforts to spread democracy. His interests have always been self-interest with desire for power. It’s mind boggling that we have politicians who can’t stand up to him, and instead grovel at his feet.

Thankfully the rule of law worked this time.

Now, replace the grovelers.

Access to power, no matter how repellent the power holder is, has not stopped repugnant followers in the past. They eventually faced the end of their power trip. Some with the aid of poison capsules or public hangings. Today, some, hopefully, are just not re-elected. Fingers crossed.

Two old men.

One old man is a 50 year honorable public servant who strives to help people.

The other old man is a 50 year dishonorable assaulter and defamer of women, business fraud, violator of his oath of office, sell out to dictators and oligarchs. And now a 34x convicted felon.

This is a contest?

Wait! What about this….

Convicted felons cannot join the military, but they can be Commander in Chief?

In many states they also can't vote or run for public office at state and local levels.

Going forward tRUMP should be identified by all as convicted felon Donald J Trump rather than former President. He has proven he is a disgrace to the office of the President and all those who preceded him in this most distinguished position.

So perfectly stated.

In some ways this occasion feels a bit like the evening we learned of my Father-in-law's death after a protracted illness. Through our sadness, my wife and I had a drink of excellent Scotch, his favorite, as a salute to him.

This evening, through our sadness that our country ever came to this moment, we'll open a bottle of an excellent Oregon sparkling wine as a salute to our system of justice and all of those involved in administration and conduct of this trial, including the defense.

Trump has finally , for the first time,

been held accountable for his nefarious ( criminal) behavior.

Of course his fantasy is that he is untouchable and above the law.

However , Reality says otherwise.

So of course, he has to make up another well rehearsed story about his victimhood, It’s all he has left . More lies.
