When you ask the question- How important is courage- I think of my father (and many others) who enlisted at the age of 17 to fight in WW2, showing courage to fight for right, for democracy,at an age where , in current times, the youth are able to just be kids, to not have to take on the roles of defender of democracy. I think of Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss- two women who stood up to the likes of Trump and Gulliani as they did the honest work of protecting the election. Courage is truly the backbone of the success of our country to have gotten to this point, and courage will see us through the likes of Trump.

Fear of skydiving becomes Love of skydiving.

Scientists find Exposure(aka facing your fears) mandatory.

~No one takes the White House recommended inoculation: "Do one thing every day that scares you."--Eleanor Roosevelt

FDR:"Go kill Hitler and when you come back I promise you FREEDOM FROM FEAR"(aka UN.org Human Rights Declaration)

Pharma:"You don't have to face your fears anymore, just keep taking our pills, don't worry, they're not addictive!"--Purdue Pharma that launched the opioid crises.

All Americans know the word Valium and none know the top words for the science: desensitization, exposure, anti-fragile, and even "CHILD'S PLAY"(AnxiousGeneration.com)

Fear of Evangelizing for Jesus becomes Love of Evangelizing for Jesus ... thus America became divided into "Valium poppers," "Bible Thumpers," Placeboees, and the uncured sufferers(searching for one of the above?). Some Placeboees become "Militant Placeboees"... Evangelizing for everyone to  believe in their Placebo and take their Placebo. But anything can be a placebo: Fox, MAGA, anger, etc.

Getting Americans to spend 20 seconds to measure their (Loved Ones, or their own, etc)emotions is 100X harder than getting them to vote(which is about $15.9 billion for 2024).

https://www.sutterhealth.org/pdf/services/holistic-integrative-medicine/mood-survey.pdf

Here's the "5 words" needed to measure anxiety, etc scientifically:

Anxious?Frightened?Worrying (about things)?Tense (or on edge)?Nervous?

In 20 seconds you can MEASURE BEFORE AND AFTER any treatment exercise(INCLUDES PLACEBO THAT CURES UP TO 60%) and it will be your first (and only?) MANIFESTATION OF EMOTIONAL AND INTELLECTUAL MATURITY in this way?😁😁😁😁

Steve I admire your courage to go on MSNBC and speak out, speak to the coward dogs within Congress and around. I wonder with great concern, how can a civilian run from the outside our entire Congress and some Senate. I hope the Democrats take both and the people regect Trump and his swamp. All we can do is vote, but I see a great battle within to keep our democracy but again how can a civilian run our government for the last 4 yrs.

As a former journalist (newspaper, radio and TV), I am so disheartened by the cowardice of these overly rich men and how they were so easily intimidated by the Orange One. I’m not sure if it’s totally about fear or about protecting their own fortunes and interests. People like Bezos would have no problem getting out of the country and finding a safe harbor. But his money / assets might be another story. I see it as hedging their bets by being quiet. Getting the tax breaks and staying off the enemy list if Trump wins. Rather short sighted because he will expect compliance on other things. They can look to Putin to see how secure oligarchs are who depend on the fascist or dictator.

I am 75 years old. My only act of courage will be to work the polls in Miami. November 5th we must arrive by 5:30 AM and stay until after the last voter has voted to break down the set-up we put together on November 4th. I have been through training, have a manual, and will most likely be an Inspector (of ballots). I have already voted absentee and sent what little money I can afford to a couple of candidates. Fingers crossed!

Been there, done all that too. I’m out of the country this year but have voted and sent money to my candidates as often as possible. When talking about courage, I used to work as an X-ray tech at my local VA back in the ‘90s. We still had many WW II survivors as patients and I heard stories that would curl your hair when they decided to share. They served in every theater under conditions that were terrible. Same goes for Korean and the Vietnam Nam vets. Courage under fire in all kinds of conditions. Unless we’ve worn their boots, we can have no idea. But to not be civically engaged enough to vote in order to save what we have left of our democratic republic is, to my mind at least, the height of cowardice.

Donna, I worked the polls for years, often running a polling place. Couple of suggestions for comfort. First, bring enough food for all day and second, you’re not going to be sitting all day but rather getting up and down. Your body’s going to ache terribly, and you’re going to need Tylenol or Aleve. Bring one or the other, enough for all day.

And working the polls on Election Day, particularly if it’s your home poll, is the most fun you can standing up!

Look at all those who have even more to fear from him and his stated retribution tour, and these folks do not have anywhere near the resources that Bezos and Soon-Shiong have. And yet Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, Cassidy Hutchinson, Sarah Matthews, Olivia Troye, many others who were in his admin have not only spoken out against him but have endorsed Harris. When faced with the real possibility of a fascist taking power in America, the billionaire class has chosen to embrace fascism and potential tax cuts, rather than join with the rest of us who choose democracy.

Sadly, their cowardice only illustrates the true depths of evil we are facing. That those with vast wealth and robust business empires are afraid of trump, then there is little hope for the rest of us. But I’m praying that their cowardice inspires more people, even those who have much to lose, to stand up to fascism, like General Kelly has done. Donald trump can only destroy our democracy if we let him. Let’s not let him do that. Let’s elect Kamala Harris and let the legal system (while it still stands) send the felon, rapist, racist, conman to jail, where he belongs.

One thing that hasn’t happened: Trump’s failures. Trump airlines?! Trump university?! Trump steaks?! The Apprentice?! And my personal favorite: Trump’s Atlantic City casino failure - how could anyone with functioning brain cells pull that off? His organization was invited to leave Panama because they couldn’t even manage a hotel (that they didn’t build…(correct me if I’m wrong). He’s blown through all the wealth his father created, was possibly on the verge of bankruptcy when The Apprentice was started. Seems a shame not to have pounded him with all these demonstrations of his failures.

The authoritarian wannabe has spelled out clearly what his plans are, and this time he has smarter, like-minded disciples who will pick up the slack for this flawed and lawless candidate. It seems personal financial interests are more important to some already wealthy people. They are gambling with our futures, and their own and if they really believe Trump could be elected, they should be fighting for his loss instead of a victory that will cost this country its freedoms. Are we seeing the Fourth Estate crumble before our very eyes? Can individual journalists fill the void of the traditional media? Whether we have 100 or 1,000 followers speaking the truth these days before the election is imperative. I believe DJT has become more emboldened and willing to see just how much power he can amass. I hold on to one sliver of hope: the long lines at the advanced voting polling place here in the Heartland. Yesterday, at one polling in Missouri, long lines of people were allowed to vote well after the planned close of the station. In Kansas, the voter turnout appears to be record-setting. We need our young voters to exercise their right and secure their freedom.

trumpism has caused the Fourth Estate, like many, many other bastions of American democracy, to crumble, dissolve, fracture, whatever else you want to say. Ever since he entered politics, the media has sucked up to him, minimized his malevolence, whitewashed his past transgressions, buried damning information about him, sane washed his craziness, failed to call out his blatant lies, gave him countless passes on his stupidity and ignorance. All in pursuit of profit. Shameful.

It was a stab of pain to learn of the Bezos act of killing the Washington Post Harris endorsement!!!!!——-

The second richest man weakly drops to his knees to kiss the bare swamp feet of Trump!!!!!!

I remember the revelations of information the Washington Post sent to illuminate the actions of Nixon’s thugs during Watergate and how grateful and proud I was of those Washington Post works.!!!!! They rightly earned respect and admiration!!!

Now Bezos has destroyed that in his act of lack of courage. I guess he doesn’t own enough entrapments yet from his superior wealth?!!!!!?

——-

Excerpt from Stevens article:——-

“These decisions have roiled both papers, causing a number of high-level resignations, but the impact goes well beyond their own organizations. It tells Americans that even two of the world’s richest people are reluctant to cross a vengeful Donald Trump. In other words, they have told us they are more concerned about their own financial interests than standing up for press freedom and democratic values and against the danger of Trump. As if to clearly say even billions of dollars do not serve as a reliable bulwark against the possibility of a fascist president.”

Because of the lack of courage of countless elected Republicans in Congress, they have remained silent in public while privately telling journalists and others “off the record” how much they despise Trump. As well, others who have criticized him have stopped short of endorsing his opponent because of a lack of courage that they might lose influence within their party. Then there are the disgustingly heartless grifters who have chosen to endorse and praise Trump because they can make money and that includes religious leaders. They are despicable—every last one of them and their influence over the voters with their support of all of trumps lies and adding to them, has caused a complete breakdown in this country’s political systems. If they had been brave and impeached him for his traitorous behavior, we wouldn’t be having to face this. You are correct. It takes courage. I am willing to violate the norm of not talking about politics. I was slow to put out my Harris campaign signs. In 2020 I went through seven Biden /Harris signs in the lead up to the election. The signs were repeatedly stolen. I have worked at the Dem headquarters locally. Monday I start working the early voting. ( election inspector) But what perhaps took the most courage was to go and talk to my neighbor. I had no idea where her stance on politics stood, but I did know that she had been an accomplice to a murder about six years ago. I made up a packet of info on how to register, early voting, etc. and even a Kamala pin. When she came to her door, I told her I could be overstepping but did she and her son have a plan to vote? She laughed and said, “Yes, and I like your signs”
