There is no doubt about it, this lady is made for this moment. Compassionate, funny, charming, but as strong and seasoned as anyone ever to seek the job. Time to get to work.

This convention demonstrated beyond a doubt how very, very deep the Democratic bench is. In so doing, it only further emphasized that, while there is a wealth of talent within the Democratic Party, and there are many stars that we must keep our eyes on, Kamala Harris may the most ready Presidential Candidate we've ever had.

Enough said. Time to do something.

Every bit of her speech set the right tone, and proves that she is ready to lead. I cannot wait until the Sept. 10 debate when we'll see that strength on full display contrasted with her opponent who is the complete opposite.

Not just opposite. On another planet far, far away. Oh, I’ve got an idea. Perhaps Trump and Musk should rocket to another universe.

Presidential Candidate, Kamala Harris:

Strength, Inspiration, Experience, Duty, Stability, Respect and Honor for our Military, and a country where we all care for each other!

Thank you Steven!

She was firm with the audience and tamped down their jubilation when she took the podium to be heard. She spoke like a leader with things to get done. Kamala sounded like Madame President addressing the nation. 💓

I think the most important part of her speech (given the challenges we face around the world and the disagreements within her party) was when she declared her strong support for the people of Israel, as well as the people of Palestine. I pray that what she said will satisfy those who claim America doesn’t care about the people dying in Gaza. It was obvious to me she cares about all the people living in the Middle East!

I wish they would read Israeli news media and put the blame where it belongs. Netanyahu has been at odds with his military leaders over continuing in Gaza. It’s now out in the open, frequently reported, that he’s sabotaging his negotiators also.

https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2024-08-20/ty-article/sources-involved-in-cease-fire-negotiations-say-netanyahu-is-once-again-sabotaging-talks/00000191-7168-dadb-a1f9-7dfb63870000

It is easy to call for an arms embargo and not consider how bad that could be (for Palestinians and Israel; for the entire Middle East) and how Iran would react. (Shipping routes matter.) Not to consider what might happen to the US military stockpile there. To be oblivious to Netanyahu’s finger on his own nuclear button with their far right having called for dropping a nuke on Gaza. (It got one member of his cabinet censured by Netanyahu for saying it in a radio interview.)

I'm thinking Netanyahu wants tRump to win because tRump is easily manipulated whereas Kamala will not be manipulated.

Yes, I have thought so for a while. Although DJT holds a grudge because Babi congratulated Biden in 2020, it was DJT who set the stage for what we see now. He also said Israel should ‘finish the job quickly’ because they were losing the p/r war.

They are so much alike it is uncanny. Neither ever won a majority in an election. Both embroiled in lawsuits and corruption. Both could wind up in prison - for DJT if he’s not re-elected and for Netanyahu, if he allows a pause in the war & elections.

I saw a news headline (but I didn’t get to read the story before I lost it) that PBS said Trump had called Netanyahu and told him a peace deal would help Harris win.

Thank you. Yes… I wish the Democrats but also America’s news media would report what the people of Israel and others (not jut Netanyahu) are saying! It seems we haven’t gotten to the point of reporting the full Israeli story… another sign to me of the influence of the Israeli government over America. I believe this will change once Kamala Harris becomes POTUS. I see her as someone who believes people should hear the full story! But let’s get her to be POTUS first!

Sadly true. She can pull that lever while for Biden it would be seen as a flip-flop. (Tricky right now though.) He believes in keeping public criticisms to a minimum to persuade. Usually it is a reliable approach. Bibi has used it to lie to both the public & Biden. The US media is silent.

Harris is carving out a different relationship, a fresh start in some ways. Eventually she can put Bibi on the defense re: he shows no concern for Israelis, Americans or anyone taken hostage Oct 7th.

Biden’s approach built more support in Israel for him than Bibi & more than Biden has in the US. I don’t think they would suddenly turn toward Bibi if a new US president told those truths.

(If you scroll way down you’ll see Israeli protestor banner reported in Israel and elsewhere in the world: Biden Save Them From Netanyahu.)

I expect Kamala Harris to bring her "prosecutor" self to issues such as dealing with Netanyahu. I'm sure she knows he's a war criminal. The only question I have is... if she decides to go after him diplomatically, will the news media in America help explain why (what the truth is)? They aren't good at truth telling about the election in November!

I cannot stomach Netanyahu as he is the Trump of Israel. I have relatives there and it pains me that the Israelis have this murderer and thief as their leader. They are sickened with him and with the Likud party who are made up of ultra orthodox men who have hate in their souls. I want a real victory for Biden before he vacates the presidency. I know he does not want this chaos to exist when Kamala becomes our leader.

It is a terrible situation. Yes, the maga wing there and here is wagging the dog so to speak. I hope the Israelis are able to push Bibi to accept an agreement & then go on to have early elections.

A lesson to be learned here. Having more parties does not mean less dysfunction or better representation. We need a big victory in November.

Right on, Steven. She was fantastic. Probably a speech that will go down in history. During the DNC, I switched back and forth between MSNBC and FOX (for which I will give them credit for airing most of it, although Hannity and others tried to talk over important parts - because - you know - they are SOOOO smart and smug in their ignorance), and after her speech heard little donny give a rebuttal, of sorts. What a crock and what a contrast! He sounded so OLD and defeated, spewing the same old tired negative grift, and the FOX folks couldn't get rid of him fast enough. FOX is such a sad network. I would never recommend that you ever watch Guttfeld, but I go to it when I need a reason to get fired up about what we are fighting for and against and why. They actually think they are funny in their constant inane drivel against Kamala, Biden and everything this country stands for - decency and character. They have neither and the people on this show define deplorable. If you ever need a "fix" to reinvigorate - watch it. Bet you can't do five minutes before you start throwing things at your TV.

Amen and amen. Does anyone else think about what their personal acceptance speech would be if you reviewed who and what in your life brought you to this place of fervent belief in our country's democracy and people and thus support for Harris-Walz to take us forward? As a woman in science before that was much of a thing, Kamala's speech (and many others) kept hitting resonant frequencies at so many notes. And suddenly I found myself immersed in this community of hope. This is quite the gift Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have given all of us.

The nitpicking has already begun. The naysayers are posed to pounce on every word , phrase and sentence Kamala Harris made last night. Simply complaining doesn’t cut it. Didn’t she say enough? Sure, she may have left some stones unturned, but she sure found the ones where Trump and Vance are hiding. And she removed any doubt a reasonable person might have that there is the starkest difference possible between a confident, capable and caring person and a wannabe autocrat who cares for no one other than himself.

To wit, I saw a clip of Trump at the border yesterday complaining about border policy with only two or three people standing behind him. What do you bet that he forgot to mentioned he killed a viable piece of legislation on immigration only to enhance his campaign?

The differences are indeed stark.

An historic speech by a historic candidate. Kamala clearly articulated her vision and offered a pointed refutation of the corrupt, dictatorial, dystopian intent of Trump. I hope the undecideds and unenthusiastic were motivated by her pitch perfect delivery, serious and forceful while being optimistic and yes, joyful. This must become the moment when the country turns away from evil of trumpism and back toward the promise that America should represent.

Just like the meme says, when you drive , you put it in D to go forward, R takes you back. We’ve had more than enough going back, and Kamala will take us into the future with hopefulness and joy. These two qualities have been lacking in politics for too long, and it’s time to get them back.

In an aside, Bob Bauer in an Atlantic Magazine Article posted the following piece titled, “REPUBLICANS’ NEW, DANGEROUS ATTEMPT TO BREAK THE ELECTION”

Prefaced, “Even if the Supreme Court rejects this plea, the GOP will advance its cause of sowing doubt in the electoral process all the same. Dated AUGUST 21, 2024.”

I believe?, The Article can be read in its entirety (Same Title) on the Political section of the Atlantic Magazine’s website. September 2024 edition. Will it ever end? Hopefully the Democrats won’t bring a “Butter Knife” to the impending “Gunfight!”
