What he's really saying is: Wake the Fork up, folks! These are not normal times and you can't response with polite reason when you are dealing with nut jobs.
Violent?! Gov. Pritzker isn't violent.
I think deporting American children is violent.
I think deporting children with cancer is violent.
I think cutting funding for libraries, museums and archives is violent.
I think depriving schoolchildren of lunch is violent.
And I think the Trump Administration is beaming in from a hate-filled planet.
What matters now is his ability to help motivate the opposition while we still have a democratic country to save......amen to that! We need to fight this takeover and REFORM democracy. Obviously it was not working very well....otherwise this would not have happened.
Then there was the 25 hours of eloquence from Cory Booker.
So much of what politicians and pundits are saying about our current crisis is repetitious and flat. But the content of these speeches rise to a different level. This is necessary; in an unprecedented time, the pen becomes one of our swords.
Professor TIm Snyder's notion of "corporeal resistance" is in line with Gov Pritzker's call to action--the politicians won't save us, the courts won't save us, the press won't save us, no one will do it "for us." We have to do it ourselves, and show up, in masse and regularly, to put pressure on the elected officials. They are afraid to be primaried? How afraid are they to lose by a landslide? That is the choice facing them right now. And their listening to their constituents is our only hope to avoid the violence that will be inevitable if the voice of the majority keeps being snuffed out. If the Trump supporters only believe what they are told and the protests are not being shown on Fox News, make them ubiquitous, and they will not be able to avoid them. That visual, along with the direct economic consequences of the disastrous erratic decisions (let us not call them policies, because it implies a plan) will eventually move more and more Americans away from Trump.
I've been woke since I was in 5th grade, when the courts stopped forced Christian prayers in my public elementary school. I didn't want anyone, anywhere to tell me how and what to pray. Just stop this stuff.
Pritzer has stood up and said what needs to be said. Where are the other “so-called” leaders? We’ve got a few who are willing to fill the breach - but we need a legion.
There's no clear single Democratic leader, rather many different leaders, each promoting his or her initiative to help defend Democracy. Gov. Pritzker, for example, is calling for mass demonstrations. I wish he, or someone else who has the credibility and bandwidth, would adopt this proposal to create a Wall of Shame to forever stain the reputations of Republicans in Congress who do not renounce MEGA when democracy needed them most. https://bit.ly/wall-of-shame1

Pritzker's speech is on YouTube, so I listened to it for myself. I am impressed with his clear call to action by all of us, with a reminder to Democratic elected officials that they must not proceed as if it is business as usual. Republicans will not magically transform into reasonable people, so start from that assumption and see who they are now. We need to rally Democrats, Independents, and those who have left the Republican party. That is a winning coalition.
Thank you, Steven, for introducing me to Gov. Pritzker. I am impressed by his words and tone and hope he’ll continue to be a voice for many of us who don’t possess such skills, or position. More protests to come. With leadership and courage exemplified here, I feel confident many will follow his example.
We need spokespersons. But power comes from us - it is grassroots power that propels change. Every community has its hot buttons.
• Services are a hot button in our state. Will our legislature end expanded Medicaid? People worry that more rural hospitals close; more people will be uninsured. (Some states have “trigger laws” that will automatically do so if certain changes are made to Medicaid funding.) Speaker Johnson say “no cuts”. States will “adjust” to the House budget cutting Medicaid waste & fraud.
• Due Process & abuse by law enforcement especially warrantless or ‘no knock’ warrants are big issues in the city where Breonna Taylor was killed.
Now nationwide unidentified federal law enforcement raids jeopardize the safety of everyone including US citizens as they supposedly search for ‘the worst of the worst.’
• In CT Rachel Maddow showed growing protests and outrage against Avelo Airlines. It has a big contract with ICE to fly deportees out of the country. The state AG spoke to her tonight about an option being considered that was reported in ProPublica: not renewing the Avelo fuel tax exemption.

No wonder they see "WOKE" as the enemy.
They want America to take a MAGA NAP!

Dawn, I agree fully that the reform of our democracy is extremely important!
Two really inspirational speeches this week: Pritzker's, and Al Gore's.

America, America, let's keep writing.
THANK YOU, Governor Pritzker!
Now let's get rolling.

So thankful that there are people who are unafraid to speak out. I wish there were elected Republicans who were as brave.

Outstanding.
Oooops … I guess I pressed send a couple times too many! But I mean what I say!

Unidentified means destruction, theft of property & the potential for disappearance with no accountability. https://fox4kc.com/news/national/were-citizens-family-traumatized-after-ice-raids-home-but-they-werent-suspects/

I was glad I heard Governor Pritzger’s speech in person. He delivered the powerful, succinct message we need.
