What Prtizker said to the press should be on the front page of every newspaper in America. In fact, most of his speech should be. This is an important speech. This is what we need. Leadership, not accommodation. #NotOnOurWatch

Thank you, Governor Pritzker, for spelling out the dangers we face in clear, unambiguous terms.

Thank you, Steven, for highlighting his comments here.

Yes, let's encourage our Democratic Governors to unite in leading the charge against the fascist threat. But we're all in this together: we all have to rally behind them.

“A society that lives by organized greed or by systemic terrorism … will always tend to be violent because it is in a state of persistent disorder and moral confusion. The first principle of valid political action in such a society then becomes non-cooperation with its disorder, its injustices, and more particularly with its deep commitment to untruth." - Gandhi

The national crime rate climbed significantly when a 34-time convicted felon got into the White House. It rose his first time in office, too, but he just hadn't been convicted yet. He's a two-bit thug with a willing crime family, his own and his toadies.

Governor Pritzker is intelligent and competent in Constitutional law. He also is a fierce defender of the people he represents. Congress needs to file against the hurtful executive orders this administration is putting forward. Legislators allowing this torture to go forward will be deemed guilty by the public in days to come.

I did some basic research using Excel on crime statistics from 2016 to 2024 for both Washington, D.C., and Chicago—crimes in Trump 1.0 and Biden's administrations. In 2016, when Trump took the White House, crime rates increased significantly. When Biden took office in 2020, crime fell. In Washington, DC., 86% were black, even though the demographics in DC are 40% black.

Trump claims law and order. That doesn't mean playing games with our military. It means funding the police with the resources necessary to address crime. Millions, soon to be billions, of our taxpayer dollars are being wasted on these deployments when that funding could be better spent on law enforcement and programs.

The gerrymander fight is on. Pritzker has a big role here. There is a new playbook. The old rules have been struck down by the Supreme Court. We need to change the gears here as fast as possible for deadly preemptive strikes. Newsom has moved out on this already. Who is next? Hochul. Where are you? Pritzker. What are you doing?

Hochul and the NY legislature are limited, at the moment, by the NY Constitution, which will keep them from responding to the Republican gerrymander in time for the 2026 election. However, they should be making sure that they have the pieces in place for 2028.

The fact remains

Vice president Mike Pence, along with his cabinet that walked off the job the night of January 6 should have invoked the 25th amendment immediately to remove him from office for inciting an insurrection which they all knew and was saying that it was

Then he would never be able to run for public office let alone be back in the oval office doing what he’s doing

Dismantling and destroying our nation, our government, our democracy, our Constitution, our rights in our freedoms

Steven, when you write "preparations to execute the convicted Nazis by hanging," that's a ray of sunlight piercing the gathering storm. The Trumpists have already sentenced millions to death by suspending USAID abruptly. By the end of the term, if he makes it that far, Trump will surpass Hitler's total body count. Nor does the genocide in Gaza, with Trump's avid support, differ in kind from the most criminal of acts.

Steven, thiel/miller/orange/vance/johnson, etc. are only wanted in 2 places: The Hague or GTIMO. Other than that? Well, I could go very Dr. Seuss...not in a box, not with rocks, not with lox....

It seemed like Pritzker was announcing he's running for President in 2028.

The battle lines are clearly drawn, so it's way past time, unfortunately, to seriously consider a "soft secession" in these once-United States:

No. There will be no division of the Union that Lincoln and the Union army fought to save. That Union army included two of my great-grandfathers, one of whom was a recent immigrant from Germany.

I appreciate the sentiment, and as a proud native Ohioan now living in beet-red Indiana after 30+ years in Georgia, I share your concern. However, you'd do well to read Armitage's article before spouting off: American federalism in 2025 looks very different from the animal it was in 1861, and we'd ignore that reality at our peril, I'd contend.
