It's seems pretty obvious that Miller is the one running the show. He knows how to play to all of Trump's ego needs, giving him credit, extolling his virtues, kissing his ass. Miller is truly the evil one; Trump, not so much. He's too stupid and narcissistic, while Miller is not. While both are certifiably insane, they are both masters of vicious hyperbole, stoking the fires of tyranny and fear. Unfortunately they are aided and abetted by right-wing/fascist media, across all platforms. If they say their lies often enough, people start to believe it, no matter how many videos of peaceful Portland there are. I know where this is all headed: The Insurrection Act. Troops in the streets. Demands for our "papers." Neighbor ratting out neighbor. No elections. I'd like to think that the stoic faces of the 800 flag officers enduring Hegseth's and Trump's presentations, will have the good sense to know an illegal order when they hear one, and act accordingly. The 25th Amendment isn't an option because the Cabinet is too plugged into the fantasy and cosplaying. But the generals, now the generals, they could stage a democratic coup, oust the cancers in the White House, insist on free and fair elections in 2026 and 2028, and we'd be safe again, free to go about our business without fear and loathing, able to know that our votes will count, and ready to begin the project of uniting the country after the fever dream has ended.

There is no such thing as a democratic coup. We Americans need to save ourselves by using every single resource available.

Donnie may not dive into the details but if he wanted it to stop, it would stop. It’s merely a matter of having the tenacity & stomach to do it or relying on someone who does. He is no less culpable. His words to be generals were pretty clear. This is not a departure from who he’s always been.

This is the president who in his first terms was furious when told the military would not shoot protesters, not even in the legs.

Think about it Ann….he literally has is own armed Force (ICE) now…who I think would shoot down civilians without any qualms! In fact, haven’t they already shot to “defend themselves?” And who would employ the old tried and true excuse of…”we were just following orders!” Especially from someone who already has “bullet-proof”immunity (unfortunately)!

Yes, I referenced his first term when the military put the brakes on him. This term by Feb, they were thinning the top ranks & any replacements would be loyalists. Top legal advisors are gone too. ICE as a national police force seems similar to DeSantis & his Florida state guard, separate from the National Guard. A new entity answerable to him & trump is reworking what exists. ICE has more funding than all other fed law enforcement put together including prison system.

ICE and Border Patrol are known for abusing their authority. All these cities and 2/3 of the US population are in the 100 mile border zone where residents’ rights are fewer and confusing. I believe the roots of our path to losing rights was greased by the fear & ‘patriotism’ response to 9/11. Some previous presidents federalized the NG to enforce court orders, not despite them. Except his fave Andrew Jackson. https://www.southernborder.org/100_mile_border_enforcement_zone

Meanwhile, about 2 hrs after this judge’s home was well on its way to total destruction, Miller tweeted about so-called terrorism network supported by judges & prosecutors. (Last month she began receiving death threats after blocking DOJ from obtaining SC voter info.) Miller repeatedly calls rulings that go against the WH desires “a judicial coup.”

There is a strategy in communication called ‘vaccinating’. (😂 Very likely a different term is used post-covid.) It explicitly prepares people - makes them immune - from accepting or rejecting something in the future. For instance, a politician: “they’ll say blah blah blah about me”. That way when people hear it later, they shrug it off. “They’ll call me a dictator but remember you want me to make you safe.” Then we have the theory of familiarity. Repetition to so that something becomes familiar so that it is accepted — like the military everywhere. Sadly, the 2 strategies work nicely together.

It might come down to the Army, et al vs. ICE. My money is on the troops. It might be as simple as escorting Trump, Miller and Vance to a padded cell, letting feckless Johnson take over and be on a glide path to the election. Maybe I should have said a peaceful coup, not democratic. We can and will continue to show up in ever growing numbers; we’ve got to because the Dems sure ain’t going to save us!

Ann Sharon's avatar

Yes, we must continue to show up. Kind of late after voters gave maga all the power to expect Dems to rescue us. It’s one reason the media didn’t bother to report things Dems do or say until the shutdown. Unfortunate it is the only tool - which can be taken away if Thune gets tired of it. A simple majority can change the rule that requires 60 votes. For now, they think it makes Dems look worse, especially when the paychecks stop.

The Democratic Party and those who align with it risk not only arrest & prosecution but perhaps being declared terrorists in the near future. If that comes to pass, which orders would be illegal? The right to refuse an order is not broad & it doesn’t transfer any authority to the “refuser.” Orders are presumed to be legal. After a refusal “lawfulness” is determined by a military judge, either military court martial or a wartime tribunal. Refusals would need to be widespread for effectiveness - as in a total governmental collapse.

I doubt this would be ‘peaceful’. There are not only maga private citizens but in the military also. I’m pretty certain Donnie & JD carefully select their security detail. The Secret Service would not assist.

I wonder how our adversaries see all this.

December 2016: American Nazi Richard Spencer tells ABC News reporter that Donald Trump will lead a 'race war' and an 'ethnic cleansing' of the United States: https://abcnews.go.com/amp/US/asian-american-journalist-interview-white-nationalist/story?id=44091003

Everyone chose to act like that was no big deal. Months later, Richard Spencer gathered Nazis with swastika armbands and MAGA hats in Charlottesville, Virginia, to chant "Jews will not replace us." Trump calls them "very fine people."

July 2024: Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts says that "a second American Revolution is underway" right now, and that "it will be bloodless—if the left allows it." https://www.politico.com/news/2024/07/04/leader-of-the-pro-trump-project-2025-suggests-there-will-be-a-new-american-revolution-00166583

This got a lot of press and as always the media and the public and the elected officials pretended it was normal, no big deal, and then immediately forgot about it.

They have been planning for a literal war against the US Constitution, the rule of law and the people since 2016. The war has been waged against us since Trump was installed the first time. The coup attempt in 2020 was a coup attempt; it was not just an oopsie as everyone has chosen to view it in retrospect. Everything that has happened in the past nine months has been an active war against our nation from within its own government, and people refuse to acknowledge it. People keep saying "we are on the verge of something happening." People will say that while their homes are being invaded. It's insane. Treason and traitorousness are unforgivable and surreal and so is the level of denial of the average American citizen.

The governors of Oregon and California should now announce that any federalized National Guard troops illegally setting foot in their states will be subject to arrest. Troops from their own states obeying such an illegal order would also be subject to reduction in rank and/or dismissal from military service—a punishment that will follow them throughout their civilian careers. This will create a showdown with Trump that will bring this issue to a head.

Unfortunately, federal law takes precedence over state law but if all of the Democratic governors said this, perhaps that could happen. In CA Newsom and our AG, Rob Bonta, brought legislation that any ICE agent wearing a mask and not carrying warrants, will be arrested.

Violating an injunction issued by a federal judge is a crime and makes the perpetrator(s) subject to arrest.

First, we thought that Congress would step in to stop this autocratic takeover beginning with the 2020 coup. Now it is painfully obvious that it will not. Then we thought that the courts would help rescue us. Welp…kinda-sorta. Now we’re all feeling helpless and scattered and divided, and do not know which citizens among us to trust. Can we trust our neighbor?

This past Monday, our attached villa was destroyed in a fire. Our neighbor’s was burned to the ground. Ours is not, but is a total loss. The police came to our door early that morning, banging and banging on it to warn us and evacuate us. My first thought, as they banged on the door was, “It’s ICE. They’re doing a sweep of the neighborhood.” Turned out not to be true, but I was TERRIFIED. That’s what this administration has done. It’s a reign of terror that promises to continue.

So I was heartened to see that the Generals did NOT applaud these buffoons. And maybe, just MAYBE…they will be the bulwark we’ve been hoping and praying for?

Steve Miller, Russell Vought Peter Theil

Are obviously running the show.

It is clear they are trying to re-create civil war and change the outcome of that war and put everything back in place with slavery, racism, misogyny with control and domination by white Christian nationalism.

Americans are facing the most skilled practitioners of deception and the highest levels of pathological lying

Emotional manipulation

The art of the spin

Gaslighting

Psychological projection that this country has ever witnessed and have been abused with.

MSNBC had a one on one interview with Mike Johnson . It was a waste of time and afforded him the opportunity to continue gaslighting, pathological lying and blaming and lying, disseminating it into the public forum and public consumption. He just tries to come off as this little innocent Christian image as he lies through his teeth and spins everything . He is intentionally not having that Democrat that was elected seated in this vote.

The woman anchor that thinks she got a big catch on for an interview as a journalist was just used.

I have no idea why corporate media continues to think getting one of these people to sit down for an interview is going to serve some purpose at getting at the truth. All they are is used to gaslight and spread their pathological lying as the truth into the public forum.

He is a very skilled practitioner at deception.

They are expert manipulators in the art of the spin and the blame .

It’s interesting how pedophilia is always hidden and protected in religion

Totally protected with religion or wealthy people .

When Donald Trump has his feet on the ground in Portland - willing to go into the WAR Zone to see for himself the conflagration -all is bluster. If he cannot go to Portland or Los Angeles or Chicago himself, then he is not a commander but a blowhard. Neither bone spurs or cankles will keep him from the action. Just do not give him a gun, Kristi.

Is this president crazy? He claims Portland Oregon is in some sort of fire storm and he wants to send it the National Guard instead of a fire department. It also appears anywhere there may be an ICE gestapo unit headquarters is causes some disruptions . Donald why don't you just keep their headquarters in Maa-a-Lago and let them do some surfing. I understand Governor Gregg Abbott has fully authorized the deployment of the Texas national guard to the Illinois alleged disruptions to Portland and Illinois. I understand they are the best trained guard in the nation. They can wrestle cattle , rope and brand with the best of them. Yes Mr. Abbott send the troops so you can upset a peaceful populations. If you are going to suck up to the president maybe you can give him some cheap meat so he can open up a Trump's steak shop. The last Trump steak I had was very tough. Possibly you can send them to the White House and round up the "enemy from within"
