I moved to the south from NY as a young teen in 1967, and I can testify that it was also terror against any woman who spoke out or didn't follow norms. It was still alive against blacks, homosexuals, or anyone who wasn't in the preferred hierarchy. People are different now and I don't think vigilantism will work. What if we all spoke out and fought back? We need to get out of despair mode and into action, connection, and a new way of being.

Considering the events over the last couple of days, with SCOTUS, basically giving the greenlight to vigilante justice in Texas, your post takes on an even more sinister tone. Merrick Garland gave a totally limp statement about that, too. This country is falling apart at the seams, and no one in power seems to care. We, the people do, but, considering our only defense is voting, and they're trying to take away that from us, too, we're screwed. At least the spineless Democrats will have saved the filibuster. SMDH Every day, I think about leaving this country. I thought that feeling would go away after trump did, but, it's only gotten worse. I am outraged by so many things, I can't keep track, anymore. I'm exhausted, disgusted, disappointed, and heartbroken.

I've been fighting for over 5 years. I'm exhausted and nothing I do changes anything. The guilty keep getting away with everything and the innocent suffer.

I'm thinking of Finland, Norway or Sweden. Somewhere where the happiness quotient is above 5 and the asshole per capita rate is low.

The newest anti-women, anti-society Texas law where neighbor can simply accuse neighbor, no proof necessary either, is the beginning of vigilante-ocracy.

What is to become of us all?

Biden is a one term President, he has nothing to loose by taking off the gloves. Garland is an enigma, I can't for the life of me understand his inaction over indicting Trump. But I will tell you this, the following is happening now and this admin appears to be doing nothing about it.

Yes, Garland's inaction and not even referencing Jan6th is troubling. Do you think that Biden is afraid of pursuing justice because it might overshadow his presidency? But it seems if he doesn't history will not be kind. The nation is clearly unsafe as long as the seditionist are at large and Trump continues to claim he was robbed. But enough attention is not being paid to how we got here. The public discourse in this country changed when Rupert Murdoch was given near carte blanche to enter the US media market with numerous outlets in several mediums and jurisdictions. The MSM held it's nose as first but when they saw how much money his fake news was earning, standards were loosened and the pass four years they went whole hog. Revenue was so good they don't want to stop! The demise of the Fourth Estate!

good post, it is important to know history so as not to repeat it. Comparing the KKK to the Jan 6 protestors is problematic though. The only person killed Jan 6 was a pro-Trump protestor, by a cop. The KKK killed and terrorized many thousands. The KKK was a violent conspiracy. The Jan 6 protestors were a varied mix of FBI-informant led white supremacist sickos, deranged idiots and fringe nuts. The FBI cannot even find evidence of a conspiracy (again!). Maybe that's why Garland is not in a rush to bring massive charges against US citizens without proof.

Even Salon reports (laments) the fact the FBI cannot find a conspiracy. Funny how they keep looking for conspiracies, and keep not finding anything. Hmmmm

Keep up the good work
