Yes, No Kings was energizing, even down here in the deep red south a crowd of about 300 marched in Brunswick, GA. This was amazing.

Another thing to consider is that when you say "parade" in the US, we're all thinking of the joyful giant bouncing balloons of the Macy's Day Parade in New York City and the gorgeous extravagance of the Rose Parade in Pasadena with fun marching bands from around the world. trump set himself for failure because while he's thinking of North Korea and its puffed up dear-leader, we're thinking of our friendly floating dear Snoopy! He's thinking of soldiers lock-stepping down the route in precision, we're thinking of the John Muir High School Drum Line (many of whom lost their homes in the Eaton Fires this past January) and over a dozen enthusiastic marching bands whose practice sessions at Pasadena City College athletic field draw in hundreds of tourist and spectators in the days before the parade. He's got his propaganda machine at work throwing flash bombs of smoke and mirrors. We've got New Yorks best theatrical wizards and Hollywood's cinematic engineers at work. We have HEART. trump's thud of a parade did not have a chance against the people's parades from the get go.

We do not learn from history, cont’d: “The liberties of our country, the freedoms of our civil Constitution are worth defending at all hazards; it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors. They purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood. It will bring a mark of everlasting infamy on the present generation – enlightened as it is – if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of designing men.”- Samuel Adams

Using one of Trump’s favorite themes, let’s Stop The Steal of our democracy and rub their noses in it.

The only way to end this nightmare of a presidency is impeachment. Demonstrations alone will not get the House and Senate to remove the Felon. We will need an economic impact so massive that the corporate owners of Republican politicians insist that donold be removed. The best way to get that result is to declare and skillfully execute a General Strike.

If we the people can shut down the economy, the corporate masters will demand that the Felon be removed. The only thing that Republicans care about is money and power. A General Strike will hit them in their bank accounts and threaten their reelections. That’s what’s needed to save America.

As enticing as the prospect of impeachment might be, with this Congress and the political climate there’s no chance it will happen. Time to convince a huge contingent of the 93 million who don’t vote to get on board. Show them the error of their ways and kick out all the bastards who will not do their jobs to “protect and defend” our Constitution and democracy.

Yeah, we really need JD Vance as president. Or Mike Johnson. Or Chuck Grassley (who's 91). (It's never too late to read the Constitution and learn how impeachment works.) "General strike" is another pipe dream. You know who'll be hit first? People who don't have bank accounts. People who have only $1,000 in savings (more than a quarter of the population, according to a 2024 study).

No. We do not need to hurt more people with strikes. We need to show up at protests, we need to harangue the Republican legislators with scorn, we need to GET OUT THE BLUE VOTE. Work toward Peace, Honesty and Democracy. This Tin Pot dictator we have in the White House will be gone with his mean and nasty lowlife gestapo if we unite.

We need more of this. No let up and a continuation of hammering home the message of saving democracy. Now the big challenge is waking up the, so far, uninterested non-voters.

Thanks for your recap Steven. My last experience in a 'march' was at the end of the Vietnam War in my college days. But the deep rot of Trump's regime has reawakened such inner rage that I could not sit out on the No Kings event. Being on the streets here in Michigan brought uplifing joy and empowerment that was visibly shared by all the other like minded spirits. We are the solution...

I went to a protest in a small town of 20,000 which marshaled about 1000 people to stand, sing, chant and listen to a couple speakers. This was Minnesota. We had, only a few hours earlier, heard the raw news about the assassinations. There was an strong undercurrent of deep sorrow coupled with a protest propelled by determination and defiance. My sign: Recipe for democracy = Peace, Justice, TRUTH. All of these vital ingredients of a free society are today held in trust only by the people, not those who purport to govern.

Trump’s Grande Parade! What a bore. Trump saluting. Mr. Bone Spurs, really? A draft dodger saluting. It always makes my heart go to thumping as I puke. Empty bleachers. How embarrassing. Melania falling asleep. Donald morose. Now, can we have something for which to vote? https://hotbuttons.substack.com/p/a-just-movement?r=3m1bs

We had THOUSANDS here in ‘the Lou’! Our entire immediate family attended together…and you know what ‘they’ say: “A family that demonstrates together, stays together!”…LOL…so I count all of St. Louis as now a part of my aspirational family, as well. At least for one shining moment, I felt surrounded by people who know what’s at stake and were willing to come out and stand up for democracy!!

Steve, a wonderful article again

Always clear concise and based in truth and history,

Evidently, I’m learning this morning that republican Mike Lee of Utah was actually on social media making fun and jokes about the murders of democratic leaders and attempted assassinations in Minnesota.

All the millions of people that protested need to start calling out in unison for resignations one by one of one of these people. One big collective voice that does not back down.

Calling their elected representatives, speaking loud and clear making

“good trouble “ as John Lewis used to say , with their voices about these resignations.

Until they are forced to resign.

One by one

It worked with Elon Musk

None of the stuff that that’s going on is written in stone.

Thank you again
