I was a career prosecutor and I learned early on to be certain that I never “shot blanks”. It is essential that this committee have all their plans ready, and a fast track team geared up to serve, file, arrest, and prosecute those who have been served a lawful subpoena. There is far too much delay and time wasted. Truly, Justice delayed is Justice denied.

Justice depends on them not shooting blanks. There’s been far too much if that.

Yup. And far too slow. Rachel Maddow is right. Both sides benefit by looking busy but doing nothing. It disgusts me.

This tactic, referring these traitors to the DOJ, only works if the DOJ works.

Based on the last 10 months, I’m not convinced that Merrick Garland has what it takes to act aggressively to save our democracy.

I hope I’m wrong and your optimism is well placed.

I was going to say the exact same thing. Merrick Garland seems to be more interested in not being seen as one of those horrible "liberals", than doing anything to save our democracy. I too, hope I'm wrong, but, with little evidence to the contrary, it becomes increasingly hard.

The wheels of justice turn slowly. We should be glad of that. We do not want a country that throws people in prison because it is expedient. The justice department was handed an insane plethora of cases, not just Jan. 6th. Let them work and let’s all support their work. Garland seems to hold integrity as a high value.

There is no excuse for letting Barr’s right hand guy charge a reputable lawyer with the crime of lying to the FBI yet not one of the crimes detailed in the Mueller Report have resulted in such charges against trump and his minions.

There is no excuse for not purging Barr’s cadre of far right lawyers from the DOJ.

I’m tired of “trusting” institutions that have not demonstrated that such trust is warranted.

I want to see action.

Let him show us. Then we might believe he's working for democracy & not himself. So far he seems to be hiding to avoid criticism from his post DOJ clients. Not very hopeful, is it?!?!

I'd like to be assured that the wheels are turning. He's not held one press conference to let us know that. I don't need details, but, I need to know these people will be punished for the attack on our country and that DOJ is working hard on that. Keep in mind, the attack is still ongoing and our country is in danger every day. Unfortunately, we don't have the luxury of time. If Republicans gain control in 2022, our democracy is over.

Agreed. Some sign would be welcomed. I am extremely concerned for our country and the democracy. We live in scary times.

Ok, but there’s at least 10 crimes in Mueller that could be charged today regardless of ongoing investigations. Also why was the Stormy Daniels statute allowed to run? That case was a slam dunk. These are reasonable questions not some pie in the sky.

During his confirmation hearing, Garland pledged that investigation of the Jan. 6 melee would be his number one priority. At that hearing he also emotionally described his family history with his grandparents escaping Jewish persecution in the Russian empire in the early 20th century, making a new life in the promise of America. I am not inclined to believe that he would allow, without considerable effort, that country to cease. I consider that he is an honorable man and optimistically believe that things are "in the works". Sure hope so!

Words, words, words...That is all we get. People tell you if you see something, say something. I saw, I said and I would like the ones in charge of all this wrongdoing, to do something...now! This has to be done. If Garland and Wray won't do anything, we need to replace them. Bannon should have been arrested by now. No one is being arrested or indicted. How much information do you need? The DOJ and FBI don't have reams of information organized yet? Hire more people. I give you permission to spend my tax dollars on a worthy cause. All these Republicans do is slap us in the face and laugh behind our backs. For once, can't people who believe in democracy have the last word?

Media pundits claim that many Democrats are reluctant to push for criminal charges because the Republicans can then turn around and exercise the same enforcement if they gain control of Congress. We, the people, must demand accountability no matter the party being investigated. It is time that we voters and taxpayers finally fight for the rule of law for every citizen, regardless of position, station, or party.

I couldn't agree more. It seems we were bamboozled into thinking Garkand was a Democrat. It appears more likely he is a conservative & would have been as bad on the SCOTUS as Kavanaugh & Coney- Barret. We're screwed with this Garland DOJ.

Garland, in this role, is not a democrat or a republican. He is a precise, careful, hyper-detailed lawyer, who was a careful Judge as well. He is in a booby trapped snake pit of a department. But, I agree, time is of the essence. He needs to MOVE it. I would hire Sally Yates back and put her in charge of a task force. We need a "go team".

I have great respect for Rep. Schiff, he has tried time and again to get the House to use their power of inherent contempt to enforce subpoenas, sadly, the septuagenarians that run the House refuse to use the power we fought so hard to give them. Going to “court” will take year# and years.
