Do not go gently. We need to force action, not more words. Even as public actions get more inhumane, and they likely will, we need to resist the desire to seek sanity and comfort by “peacing out.”

Progress, as slow, uneven and painful as it can be, is the long-term trend of humanity. History proves this. It is why some choose to alter it.

Independent journalism will play an important role in determining how people act. Keep pushing actionable ideas.

Went to a protest yesterday. It was awesome…people chanting, drums drumming, like a modern reenactment of soldiers marching in support of our freedom in the Revolutionary War. We took over the streets in our parade, aided by local police, which reassured me that the local police understand that it is our right, responsibility and duty as citizens to protest. These days, it feels like praying with our feet, because we do not know what will happen. But thankfully, we came out ‘loud and proud’. It was an amazing show of solidarity in my small corner of the world. That’s what we need all over this country…a show of solidarity and pride for the country that we can be, again. Would that our leaders wake up, because ‘woke’ is required to be a citizen of this country. Awaken your pride. Awaken your outrage. Awaken your courage. Arise and awaken your resolve to make this a better place! We have no other choice.

I'm taking that fabulous phrase: "Praying with our feet," because that's what it is. Thank you.

Thanks, Leakie. It came from my rabbi. I usually attend a study on Saturday mornings…and one particular morning I said, “I would like to be there, but I am attending a protest.” She replied, “You’ll be praying with your feet.” I will always remember that.

This was murder, and this ICE agent did exactly what he wanted to do -- kill her. No remorse. He called her a "f-ing b!tch" after he shot her three times. This was just like George Floyd's murder. That cop did exactly what he wanted to do, too.

Both acted with cruelty and arrogance and were fueled by hate and their own feelings of inadequacy, just like their felonious leader, and his fascist supporters.

We should have never gotten to this point. The Republicans have wanted an un-/mis-/dis-informed electorate since Reagan, to just this end.

This is not going to end until enough of us stand up to this corrupt, evil regime. For decades, I've noted the Republicans' efforts to divide us, and have always believed that they wanted another civil war so that they could seize power.

The question now is whether enough of us are willing to take the risks and peaceful actions necessary to resist the violent takeover of our country in its 250th year. I hope so, and I plan to.

Organize a nationwide STRIKE!! No Kings on steroids. The 1% who are holding our wealth as a nation are scared to death of a mass uprising. They cannot defeat this because they are filled with greed and know they are getting rich on the backs of the American middle class that is rapidly being depleted by the arrogance and ignorance of MAGAs led by King Donny, who is not smart enough to be responsible for what is going on, which is even scarier.

There were 400 people at yesterday's "ICE out for GOOD" rally in my town. What has me slapping my head is Trump saying he will protect protesters in Iran.....and I think, while killing those in America. The administration's reaction to this murder is beyond crazy--they are all just barking mad. We must keep protesting and tell the NYT to stop patronizing Trump.

OK, I'm confused. Let's see, everyone in the U.S. including criminals arrested for alleged felonies and undocumented immigrants are entitled to due process. EVERYONE! Donald Trump got due process. There must be a warrant signed by a judge for the arrest/apprehension of a specific person suspected of being an undocumented immigrant. Why aren't these laws being enforced? Why aren't these ICE agents being arrested for their illegal actions? Furthermore, ICE agents are only allowed to enforce immigration laws. They are not legally allowed to stop motor vehicles at all! Full stop. They are not legally allowed to invade anyone's home, ANYONE's HOME, without a warrant signed by a judge. This happens every day and no one, NO ONE, is stopping it! Where are the courts? What the hell is the Supreme Court doing? How can they allow this to keep happening? If county prosecutors and state's attorney's general won't convene grand juries and secure indictments against every single ICE agent who are committing these crimes, then where are the myriad of personal injury lawyers who can file civil suits that require discovery, etc. And, why aren't lawyers trying to create class action lawsuits? If we can't get our state and local prosecutors to take action, then sue the hell out of ICE, each ICE agent, Kristi Noem, the department of homeland security, etc. I'm not a lawyer, just a retired physician, but Jesus Christ someone do something to stop this!

It’s like they are creating a hybrid organization to use the worst of each & keep pushing beyond the laws of the land and decency. Chicago apartment building attack was one example. They hide behind the legal barriers like sovereign immunity and the qualified immunity for law enforcement. Now JD Vance calls it Total Immunity.

Customs & Border Patrol are in Minneapolis also. They play by different rules than ICE but their jurisdiction is the ~100 mile “border zone” around the US, at airports & ports. (This is where 2/3 of the US population live.) That zone encompassed almost all the cities being attacked by the administration. They are aggressive & already had a reputation for stretching the law until it breaks. https://www.aclu.org/know-your-rights/border-zone

ICE can go anywhere in the US. Although this page has an original date of 2020, it was updated in late January 2025. The top of the page describes how ICE operated in the past. Then the tone changes. Down the page It claims ICE does not need warrants which is only partly true. https://www.ice.gov/news/releases/misinformation-concerning-ice-operations-generates-unnecessary-fear-local-community-0

As I read most of the comments over the past week, I have noticed a much more intense response from your posts than just a month ago. which was a lot of anxiety, but little call for action until now. As I have said, and I see many others are of a like mind, we cannot let this continue and I firmly believe that the 2025 Plan is manifesting itself, but Trump is just the front man. He is not smart enough to do more than take credit. Pam Bondi and Stephen Miller are the true culprits, among many others who are pulling all of King Donny's strings. Any of us who believe the MAGAs will not threaten the November elections with their new national, unfettered, secret police, is not watching what is transpiring, although I do believe that many are waking up to the fact that our democracy is in peril. We are witnessing every day the demolition of our way of life and the rule of law.

Thank you for emphasizing this is not about immigration enforcement. Donnie had to stop federalizing the National Guard and pull them out of states. He said “we” would be back more “strongly.” The excuse of fraud falls flat. It is an old case in which most of the fraudsters have been tried, convicted and sentenced. More important, Immigration Officers do not do fraud investigation or arrests. Seldom mentioned, the big ring leader was a white woman, an American citizen, Aimee Bock. Immigration agents don’t do fraud cases.

Intimidation & racism is the point. Reverend Callahan who was handcuffed & held in an SUV testifies to that based on his experience. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyncB-hBhMo Others point out intimidation random attacks into crowds. 2 teens were grabbed from their jobs at Target & held at the detainment center. They also were US citizens. When released, they had injuries. 2 other US citizens were picked up at a protest. They describe the disorganization. https://www.kare11.com/article/news/local/ice-detainees-renee-good-minnesota-immigration-kristi-noem/89-be6f01a2-d727-46ac-82df-390e83d0a715

The shooter broke DHS policies and federal law. That is why DHS quickly manufactured a series of lies and has doubled down.

• For obvious reasons DHS policy is for officers not to place themselves in the path of vehicles. If in the path, they are to move aside.

• Officers under DHS policy & SCOTUS (1985) prohibited firing into a moving vehicle (or someone fleeing) unless there is an immediate threat of death or serious injury. Firing while able to move aside & afterward is not an immediate threat. — This is to protect civil rights, those nearby and common sense. An incapacitated driver cannot control the vehicle. It may accelerate; endangers anyone in its path & when / if it crashes (as her SUV did).

SCOTUS: Tennessee v. Garner, 471 U.S. 1 (1985)— PRIMARY HOLDING

Under the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, a police officer may use deadly force to prevent the escape of a fleeing suspect only if the officer has a good-faith belief that the suspect poses a significant threat of death or serious physical injury to the officer or others.

LET ME FIX THIS: In November, the Department of Homeland Security proudly reported that—more than 20,000 current ICE agents are “from patriotic Americans who want to defend the worst of the worst criminal ,” Noem said in the release. “Americans are answering their country’s call to serve and help murderers, pedophiles, rapists, terrorists, and gang members ”

I remember working the polls on 11-5-24 and hoping the outcome would be a Harris win. By 11 PM, CST, I realized that wasn't happening and thinking to myself, this is going to get bad and get bad fast. I knew they had the intent and the wear with all to create madness and kill Americans. I'm still gob smacked to see it, but here we are. This won't prevail if we keep resisting and that has to be a priority now. Resist, resist, resist in any way you can.

The regime’s escalations of violence and of “othering” protesters or victims, is Fascism 101. To be expected when the mad king is racing against time to put his “legacy” on display and into the history books. I fear it will get far worse, that our peaceful protests will be broken up by armed thugs, that there will be blood. Our task is to do everything we can to oust Schumer and Jeffries from leadership, bring in war time defenders of the Constitution and rule of law, men and women who punch up, hard. We must also register every warm body we can convince that our country, once so blessed by good will toward Americans and the world, is gone and the only way out short of a civil war is at the ballot box. We are in for more obscenity, but we have the numbers and the will to fight. If 3.5% of the population joins in a refusal to go along with the madness, it will turn the tide, stop the regime in its tracks. Of this I am sure. Let’s get crackin’.
