I’m more confident than ever that he will lose again. What worries me more is that his acolytes, especially in Georgia, are setting up to steal the election by actions such as refusing to certify the election results.
The ultimate nightmare is that he wins and with his increasing dementia, Vance will invoke the 25th Amendment and remove trump and he will assume the presidency.
We’ll see if it holds up in the GA courts. Evidentially GA state law says those election officials “must certify”. This latest escapade is a Rule by the election board. A state election board can’t legally make or trump state law.
But it sure does expose their tactics. In fact there is something in Project 2025 that feeds into this. If you go to Page 23, the first heading says “Finally, there is the potential ….”
It refers to “reticence” of the courts to “intervene”. Then look at the last 2 sentences for their solution — pressure to convince the courts “significant, sustained and visible on the streets.”
Not the strategy of an organization who believes the GOP will win. Probably the most honest assessment of their situation after the 2020 election was by (of all people) Nick Fuentes. He said there were not enough votes for them to win an election. There was no “silent majority” that would “come to the rescue.” His solution is much like the HF playbook. Get the orange wonder in the WH ‘somehow’, dissolve Congress & use the military to keep civilians in line. No more elections. NF said those things on his podcast not long before having dinner with DJT. Right Wing Watch has segments in their archives.
Marc Elias and his legal team are all prepared to sue the election deniers in these red states. He filed 60+ lawsuits against Trump and his sycophants and won. Read Democracy Docket.
He’s great. His team has continued to battle in the courts. (I’ll bookmark the site.) It’s a heavy lift so I’m glad the ABA has spoken out & looking at what comes next.
Still am not getting overconfident. Been there, done that but I am getting the idea that the country may be awakening from the fug it’s been surrounded in. I ran across a quote from the late movie critic Roger Ebert. I think it can be used concerning the Harris/Walz campaign of good old fashioned joy.
"To make others less happy is a crime. To make ourselves unhappy is where all crime starts."
Every word you say is true, Steven. Yes, he is getting increasingly desperate as he showed in his unhinged "press conference" today.
Yet, I find it hard to believe that the Trump, this trainwreck of a traitor, actually means what he posts. His devious mind is simply saying the kind of outrageous things that he knows his base demands. Plus, he is trying to divert our attention from focusing on his true intent of establishing a dictatorship with Project 2025 as his manifesto.
Trump knows he is going to lose the election. His goal, though, is to keep it as close as he can (hence the red meat to his MAGA base to ensure they vote) so that he can file one spurious case after the other in the hope of filing appeals for some of them with his fascist allies on the Supreme Court.
My fear is that those fascists will put their thumbs on the scale of justice. Remember that they already have. I would dearly love to see Merrick Garland step forward now to address the issue of how the DoJ will handle fraudulent electors and their illegal claims.
He is not the only crazy verging on insanity. He's just the one out-front. We should not take our eyes off the retinue behind him. It's not over til it's over!
I was watching the news after lunch while knitting a blanket for a regional hospital; and when I heard that 45 was going to do a new conference at 2 pm, I turned off the tv at 1:55 pm. I have been feeling calmer and more hopeful lately; and I didn't want to see whatever 45 was going to present which would surely take away the positive feelings I had been having over the past 2 weeks. I figured that the highlights/lowlights would be on the news later in the day. I heard some lowlights on the news while eating dinner. However, I didn't hear what you just presented: that President Biden was going to come storming into the Democratic National Convention and demand his place back on the ticket. That is so totally bizarre that I am having difficulty processing it. There was no coup to oust Biden from the ticket. Many Democrats did speak out that Biden, while having an outstanding career in public service, was not the best choice to lead the Democratic party in the next election, that he had lost a step, that the country wanted new, younger leaders, that the country wanted the next generation. As the great statesman that Biden is, he took all of the commentary seriously and put country before personal ambition. By doing so, he further showed what a great public servant he is; and historians will judge him honorably for that. Electors were on the primary ballot. Those electors had previously stated that they would vote for Biden. Biden was the only Democrat running at the time of the primaries. However, the electors were not bound to vote for Biden. The electors were elected to choose a Democrat candidate. Biden took himself out of the race when, as I said, he put country above personal ambition. The electors then had to decide on a candidate to support; and the electors chose Kamala Harris. 45 should have studied history in high school and/or college. If he had (and American history is mandatory in high school), he would know the role of electors. The clips of the rambling press conference that I did see on the news showed very slowed down, somber version of the 45 who used to whip crowds into a frenzy at his rallies. Fact checkers who appeared on the evening news listed all of the lies that 45 told. As one of the pundits said, during 45's NY trial he complained that the trial was taking away time that he would spend on the campaign trial, but now that he has the time, he has not yet spent 1 day this week on the campaign trail. Apparently he was hiding i his cocoon in Mar-A-Lago, which he obviously feels important because he sees his wealth all around him, and where no one disagrees with him. I saw enough tv at dinner that I don't need to watch any more news tonight. I will do something productive around the house and read some more of the novel I am currently enjoying. I am staying away from the toxicity that 45 brings into this world. I am choosing to keep my life and my outlook positive.
Trump's certainly "gone with the fairies," but where is the media outcry? The same people who tore Biden to shreds after the debate are silent about the bizarre delusions coming from Trump. Really, why would anyone believe he's in psychological shape to assume the presidency? My god, is Trump hearing voices? Has his tendency towards projection tipped over into psychosis?
Exactly. They speculated for months that Biden was suffering from dementia, then the news media, after the debate, used the term "disastrous" to describe his "performance." Now we see Trump pontificating the most delusional stuff he's ever uttered, and it's crickets.
Sometimes you just have to wonder - especially after his last press conference - whether Donald Trump is testing out an insanity defense before his upcoming criminal trials.
Projecting again. I think he can’t imagine that anyone would willingly give up the presidency. We know what he would do. For the past 4 years he’s been doing nothing but trying to claw his way back in.
Btw - what are the chances he doesn’t make it as top of the ticket until the election? I wonder how many Republicans just have their fingers crossed that he make it that long and then they’ll dump him. But I’ve also wondered if there’s any chance they would do that sooner if he looks like a liability to them?
Trump’s latest press conference has been called “bad improv.” Is it improvisation if he says the same poorly written, tired lines at every performance?
These are very idiotic people…they have telegraphed their intent, to the extent that we all are clued in to what they will try to do. If the media would do its job and dig into the conspiracy already underway, it would be helpful 🙄
You can say that again Al. When I read a few pages of Project 2025 I couldn’t believe they put it on the internet! I expected an uproar over it, or at the very least, to hear and read that people were shocked by it. But I didn’t, so I waited and waited and a few weeks later a couple of people on msnbc mentioned it. I’m not sure what to make of that. Have millions of people been so brainwashed they don’t realize what an enormous threat it is to our way of life? Or are millions of people just not paying attention? Or do they not understand what they’re reading?
Eventually I realized the press ALWAYS used to take something like Project 2025, analyze it and educate us about it. But the mainstream press doesn’t really exist anymore. As I’ve said, it’s as if when they stopped publishing on paper and started publishing on the internet, they completely lost their minds.
Now, the former mainstream news outlets, platforms, or whatever you want to call them, have
become clones of the National Enquirer. I have no idea if the National Enquirer exists anymore or if it
still traffics in the most bizarre, outlandish & devoid
of factual info stories on the planet, but it does live on in what used to be mainstream media.
Yes, although arrogance plays a role. So out of touch they expect to fool us all.
Lawerence O’Donnell pointed out tonight the press asked dumb questions today wasting the press appearance. Ex: “What did you think of VP Harris not selecting Gov. Shapiro?” And a request for more info on the Musk interview next week. Nothing like the grilling they give Biden & his press people. His speech was carried live through all the lies and no coverage of VP Harris speaking until he finished.
He’s proposing that all reporters agree to apply the same press ‘rules’ when VP Harris has a press conference. The same type of questions; no follow-ups; no challenges.
OMG Ann, DT has actually taught reporters & journalists to ask him only inane “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” questions. “What do you think about VP Harris not choosing Gov. Shapiro?” is a question intended to elicit gossip & controversy! Remember Sam Donaldson? He’s 90 yrs old, but I bet he could still ask pertinent, intelligent questions.
Tim Russert could do better from his grave! Giving Trump an opportunity to bloviate & repeat stock (We’re looking into that…) phrases isn’t journalism.
A pertinent question would be, “Are you planning to incite another insurrection if you lose?” or “What will your policy on Israel be?” or “The U.S. and Israel have signed multiple bilateral defense cooperation agreements, Will you keep sending weapons to Israel pursuant to those agreements even though the ICC has said PM Netanyahu is a war criminal?” or “The House passed legislation in June that would sanction the International Criminal Court for requesting an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and other Israeli officials, will that affect your policy?” or “If you win the election will you stop sending weapons to Ukraine?”
Weird, isn’t it? He cut his teeth on pushing ‘fake news’ for the tabloids. Now he has the news media at his beck and call. I guess this is what happens when news becomes just another profit maker mostly owned by entertainment conglomerates.
There’s no question he’s losing it. He’s now unable to exert the small amount of control he used to have over what he says. As you pointed out, he’s going to
get worse. He’s delusional even in good circumstances, although most people don’t recognize it for what it is. He’ll get more delusional
and less able to control himself over the next few months. Which also means he’s going to be more dangerous. It wouldn’t surprise me if he talks
unstable fans into committing crimes on his behalf.
You are so right Steven. It’s even more awful watching and listening to him than before. That people would vote for him, seeing this is beyond my understanding.
I’m more confident than ever that he will lose again. What worries me more is that his acolytes, especially in Georgia, are setting up to steal the election by actions such as refusing to certify the election results.

They are all prepared. This is the game the R’s play. They feel SCOTUS is in their pockets.

It sounds like he's getting into QAnon craziness again, but who the hell in their right mind would believe this latest hallucination?

That is a wise decision on your part.

I am wondering where the media is too, MaryCat after they non stop attacked President Biden after the debate.
With his disturbed mind, trump is assuming Biden's identity and simply stating what HE, trump, would do.
Right.

Janet, He’s already mostly a figurehead, whether
he knows it or not. I think some republicans know he’s incapable of governing and planned to have a shadow government making important decisions.
Trump’s latest press conference has been called “bad improv.” Is it improvisation if he says the same poorly written, tired lines at every performance?
If Trump loses his mind, he has Medicare! Worry not but wish him good luck.
Saw your video twice. Well said!
I also liked this, your word usage about Tyrump.
“…He can sense like the feral animal that he is that he is in grave danger…”
Thx much.
