Living in a town that has a refinery which continues to poison us, this segment is very relevant to me. They have defied our state government and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, even though there are strong rules in place. At one point, they told us that a fire on their property that sent dangerous minuscule particulates into our air, was caused by raccoons. My research found that this company also had used the same excuse for one of their refineries in Southern California! LA sued them and Maxine Waters championed that. We keep fighting the powers that be with a group that we established of scientists, regular folk like me, and lawyers.

They’ve made it crucial for groups like yours to hang on to any data you’ve managed to gather..

The regime's attempts to destroy our body of scientific knowledge, while denigrating and trashing the arts, lie at the very heart of the plans of the oligarchs and autocrats to rule the world between them. They want a force of uneducated, uninformed serfs who are only fit to work in their factories and fight in their wars.

This is no exaggeration, friends, it's been less than a hundred days and look where we are.

I hope to God I'm wrong, but to those who claim that we will be able to correct course in the midterm elections, I would ask this: why do you think the fascists are going to allow themselves to face the prospect of losing power through elections now that they have assumed control? They are already assaulting our laws on a daily basis. They will simply manufacture one emergency or another - a terrorist act, for example - and use that as a pretext for canceling elections.

We need - through mass civil disobedience and general strikes - to end this travesty now. NOW!

Definitely agree; a March on Washington DC and general strikes are needed before it’s too late.

These people are so dark.

It would be nice to have a guardian angel / data keeper

Hopefully all owners / posters of data are busy downloading and copying ALL of this data before the doge incels delete it all. 🤬

Thanks for adding this to the stack of things everyone needs to know. Hopefully places that have pieces of this information will hang on to it and perhaps continue to collect what they can.

I’m wondering about another thing happening with federal data. What did DOGE do? According to Wired’s headline (which is where my access ends because I used this month’s “complimentary” articles) DOGE claim to be there to improve efficiency.

— Here’s All the Health and Human Services Data DOGE Has Access To

Elon Musk's DOGE has access to 19 sensitive systems at HHS. In at least one instance, it appears that access was granted without the proper security training. —

DOGE is not a benign entity with or without ‘training.’ NPR did a gigantic article on what the whistleblower from the Dept of Labor observed. It has technical descriptions of what things that happened there. But some points are crystal clear: extraction of data from outside the government; hiding the identities behind logins and trying to erase evidence of activities. They all point to nothing good and are likely duplicated in other departments. Experts agree this is the same behavior seen in outside threats and not expected to happen internally. They were not surprised someone with a Russian IP tried to login using one of the DOGE IDs and passwords.

So while the public, legitimate researchers and government entities are left in the lurch someone is collecting the data. No one knows the details on why or for whom or what’s next. No one knows what unplanned 3rd party may be collecting the data. All we know is we can’t count on HHS continuing to collect it using the scientific method.
