If Trump did not feel emboldened by this court, he would not be trying to impose his will upon our sacred act and responsibility of citizenship. I have long said that voting is the most important RIGHT, not privilege, that we have and that any attempt to interfere with or take away our right to vote is a deal-breaker for democracy and for this country. Voting allows us, for now, to keep a finger in the dyke to stop the flood of authoritarianism that seems imminent. If we have no vote, we have no voice. If we have no voice, we have no democracy…full stop.
I agree. The GOP Congress might not fold so easily if the SCOTUS majority had integrity. It gave ‘the executive’ immunity; took an axe to anti-corruption law & refuse to be governed by the same rules and oversight as other federal judges.

It's one thing in a state like IL (where I live) that has many methods of voting. Our local League of Women Voters and other civic groups are forming a network of drivers to take people to early voting, drop boxes or the poll as well as other methods of support. But what about CA and WA and OR etc who have not alternative methods? 47 doesn't hate our Constitution...it just doesn't serve him so he ignores it. He does it with people, businesses, groups. It doesn't matter to him who or what is in his way. He bulldozes it or sues it or completely ignores its existence. It's getting worse as his dementia deepens and no one has guts enough to end this terrorism.

We did not consider mail in voting last yr & will not this yr. Our mail has been screwed up periodically — I’m talking packages months late & sitting in sorting centers. Same for letters. Somewhere a payment from a local gallery to me is floating around. It is not just here in Louisville. IN, GA, VT and other places have all had issues this year that are not weather related. A question I wondered about in past few days: Why has Americans With Disabilities group not started before now to do something about no-mail ins? The Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) was put in place for just this reason! People with a mobility problem have as much right to vote as the person walking into the voting place.
I know, let's add more work to the Election Commissions - when I vote, I will take an infirm friend's voter ID card, get their ballot, take it to them, they vote and then I return their ballot to the Election Commission where it is verified and placed for counting. I’ve seen judges do this in local courts to draw attention to something either side is trying to avoid. What we ‘know’ and what is floating around in the stratosphere is not available for a conclusion. You can tell a lot about what a judge knows or find concerning by such remarks and their questions.
The federal government was asked & did not explain how this initiative would work. Did not give any satisfactory answers to the judge’s questions - including how to avoid massive disenfranchisement. This last point is crucial.
