The rights the Supreme Court fortified since I was born have now been reduced to rubble.

Amy Comey-Barrett has two adopted children from Haiti. Does she think that her position will keep them from being racially profiled?

Someday those children will grow up as adults. They will realize that their “mother” voted against the color of their skin. They will feel confused and uncomfortable. My hope is that they escape the cult they are being brought up in.

Berlin, March, 1934. Right off the street, Sturmabteilung ("Brown shirt") troopers picked up a woman who "looked Jewish," arrested for not wearing the Yellow Star.

In American history it will always be remembered as the “Robert’s Court”.

And it will be spoken of with contempt.

That's not unusual; after all, I came of political age during the Warren Court -- and before I got much older I learned how exemplary it was compared to those that came before and after. But when historians and legal scholars compare Supreme Courts through U.S. history, the Roberts Court will rank with the worst, along with the Taney Court (which decided Dred Scott v. Sandford) and the Fuller Court (which decided Plessy v. Ferguson).

But wait, Kavanaugh says not to worry; there is always legal recourse if you're not an illegal and you think your rights have been violated. I guess this legal theory could eliminate the need for a search warrant. Afterall, if you're innocent you have legal recourse. Good thinking Brett.

Yeow. Do we think he has any idea what "legal recourse" costs in time, grief, and $$$??

“We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now you begin to understand me.”

WTF. The police forces across this nation have been doing racial profiling since the days of "Jim Crowe". It happens every day in my home town of Glen Ellyn. Illinois. We are a racist nation and always have been.

Right, but police forces are local and under local jurisdiction. (Yes, some of them are appalling, and in the past more of them were worse.) This is national policy.

This is horrifying. My heart is broken. I don't see anyway out of this . How did they get on the court .. I know how, but for all that is decent they shouldn't be on the court. I cannot forgive RBG for not stepping down when she knew she was sick. I despise Mitch. So much of what has happened. Some of it is at his feet. First Garland and then not giving his blessing to convict Trump when he could have. This is where we are.. One thing I keep thinking about them on the court... doesn't it bother them that the lower courts are not in tune with them at all. They were once lower court judges wern't they ? I'm sure they didn't want to be overturned all the time. lost in america

Kavanaugh’s sick explanation is plain and simple of the privileged life that he was allowed to be brought up in as a white guy. How can he serve on a committee where 3 justices are women of diversity? How can he look them in the eye? Sotomayor, Kagan, and Brown Jackson should bring voodoo dolls to the table that look just like the Injustices 6 ,and I mean that sincerely.
