I firmly believe that President Biden will go down in history as one of the most successful, honorable, and most loved Presidents in history. I think that a LOT of people will be surprised when the list of his accomplishments is compiled. :) THANK YOU, President Biden!
The moment I heard Joe endorsed Kamala I sent her a donation. She has been with Joe through all of his successes and she’s a strong supporter of women’s rights.
It does boggle my mind though that anyone anywhere in this country could be surprised and unaware of Joe’s accomplishments. No wonder Trump has a following.
I did the same on the donation. I believe the domination of media by non-journalist partisan reporting has created the "mind-boggling" ignorance of the many accomplishments of the Biden/Harris Administration. The "Free Press" is free no longer.
I was one who initially wanted Biden to stay in the race despite the pressure. However, like others, I have observed a worrisome deterioration both cognitively and physically which seemed to progress over the past months. Although I have no doubt he can still perform the duties as President for the remainder of his term, the future of the country has got to take precedence. He made the right decision at the right time. It locked Trump into picking JD Vance which will hurt their ticket now.
There were several indications this was in the works. More emphasis on the VP in his speaking engagements for instance. There were reports a week ago of his campaign “quietly” doing polling on a VP Harris running. No reason to do that if it wasn’t being considered.
He did not let it be known earlier to avoid leaks & instead, as you say, waited for the best time. — It’s also a very bad time for the maga campaign because despite the hype I’ve heard, they have to change a lot of messaging, their ads, and so on. I wonder if Donnie will still want that September debate? (Not really)
So absolutely right on, Steven! Joe Biden is a true servant leader, and you nailed it in every way in describing his patriotic action today and our call to unite behind another great servant leader, Vice President, Kamala Harris! Today, there is great hope for preserving our very fragile democratic experiment! Thank you for your stellar commentary, Steven! Come on freedom lovers, we can do this!
I agree with Jon Meacham, Barack Obama and this quote from your post: "In my estimation, Joe Biden’s historic decision to withdraw is an act of extraordinary patriotism, honor and selflessness by one of the country’s great presidents. This is a man of remarkable character—and I think his decision represents his profound dedication to his country, to public service and to the need to secure democracy." President Biden will be remembered by historians as 1 of the greatest public servants, a man with compassion, a man who put country before personal ambition, a man who stood very deeply for Democracy and our Constitution. I look forward to the Democratic National Convention when I expect and hope the party will show President Biden the love and honor that he so richly deserves.
Joe Biden has just cemented his position in history amongst the greatest leaders in the USA and beyond! No matter what happens, giving the USA and the world a better chance to avoid DT2 is heaven sent. God willing, he will be defeated once and for all.
At this moment I'm incredibly sad and disappointed that our country won't have 4 more years of President Biden's leadership. That having been said, I'm completely behind Vice-President Harris.
I'm also about as angry as I've ever been at the Democratic Party. I've always considered myself a left leaning independent. Today I continue to claim that identity a bit more proudly.
I'm livid at the MSM. Of course I'll continue to watch, but much more selectively. Any company advertising on CNN or during Andrea Mitchell or Katy Tur's time will not have any of my attention.
I am also, Thomas. I feel they betrayed us. This is something that they are going to have to reconcile before I cast votes for any candidate, other than Harris and her pick, again.
Joe Biden has done the right thing I suppose. We keep being told he has. I will, however, never be ok with the voices, both political and media, who pushed him out after subjecting him to unrelenting scrutiny and criticism. They did all of that while firmly and bizarrely excusing the spectacle of Trump, his sycophants and their relentless attempts to destroy democracy.
A well-known sports coach (I forget exactly whom) had his team follow "the 24-hour rule" after every game. If they'd won, celebrate for up to 24 hours, then focus everything on the next game. If they'd lost, feel the disappointment for 24 hours, then focus everything on the next game. I hope this type of thinking applies to all Democrats, especially those who are angry at those who convinced Joe to step aside. OK, feel angry for a while, then let it go - time to focus on the next game.
Agree with Maria. And Steven of course. Joe put his Country first. So now rally behind Kamala & ?. Would like Dems to start reminding all that T is already only 2-3 yrs younger than Joe & is obvious he veres off on some tangent that makes no sense. Joe is kind, T is nasty & ugly - remember him aping a reporter with some disability. Do not want a 'dictator fr day 1' for my president. Now Joe has made it official - Kamala all the way
Biden only planned on being a one-term president but trump’s ego and desire for revenge forced him to nobly run again to save our country, and we the people voted for him in our primaries. Then the debate and suddenly … that was that for the party elders and wealthy donors. This whole affair has been nauseating. My hope now is those who think they know best, certainly assume they know more than us, stop the drama and unite behind Harris. Having lived for many decades, all as a Democrat, I’m rightly concerned that the internal squabbling will result in doom come November.
Looking good. Endorsements and donations have flooded in for Harris’ campaign.
I see the Biden Victory PAC has online ads (in addition to Biden’s emails) asking for donations to her campaign fund. Favorable zoom call with all state delegation chairs who were supportive but votes need to happen. NC, SC and TN delegations have already pledged to support her.
I don’t know if they will do that before there are enough delegates. Not necessarily a good look to favor pushing Biden out & pick the next nominee. A little too hands on.
Well Steven, there we have it. I have been there with your thoughts on the subject and share your concerns. The billionaire class who blackmailed the congressional Dems are who they are. Money talks. They had better pony up now. They had better be talking loudly now.
Thank you for your thoughtful look at the situation we face. We have no choice. Recriminations must be saved for 1925, after we have done our mutual duty to our Nation. Hard work ahead.
I firmly believe that President Biden will go down in history as one of the most successful, honorable, and most loved Presidents in history. I think that a LOT of people will be surprised when the list of his accomplishments is compiled. :) THANK YOU, President Biden!
Ok. The narrative has now changed. Let’s get behind Kamala and change the course of history.
Clearly. But we spent the last month re living Hamlet! It's time for some fun. .... How about "And speaking of aliens, send Donald back to Flushing!"
I’m all for flushing Donald
Apropos, since he's a POS

Very well said sir. I stood with Biden/Harris and will definitely stand with Harris/________!

I’m betting someone is printing the T-shirts already.
This election is The Prosecutor vs The Felon

I’m still holding my breath and will until Obama, Pelosi, etc., agree with Biden’s endorsement.
I don’t know if they will do that before there are enough delegates. Not necessarily a good look to favor pushing Biden out & pick the next nominee. A little too hands on.
Amen

I agree with everything you have said here, and I don’t have the emotional wherewithal at this early moment to add any further comment.
