In standing with you, Steven, in being proud to be an American today, I salute President Biden, a man of courage, character and conviction.
The people of this nation, indeed people who love freedom everywhere, owe Joe Biden an immense debt of gratitude. He is more than a politician, he is a statesman.
It is our turn now to show him that we are worthy of his faith in us.
President Biden’s decision to speak to the nation was an important moment. He was inspiring; spoke with conviction; reminded us of the values necessary for good leadership. He issued a call to action by saying “History is in your hands.” Americans can respond confident their president is completing his term ably and with honor; a president who has passed the torch to someone worthy.
He could have remained secluded or avoided addressing the public. His decision not to do that and to remain in office for the rest of his term were important decisions. On November 5th it will be time for us to take history in our hands and keep our country out of the hands of kings and dictators.
We have been blessed to have President Biden in office. His leadership has been spot on from day one and, even while we found his decision to step down from the campaign disconcerting, in some way we had the feeling there was more to come...and here we are today with the excitement growing over the coming election. Thank you, Pres. Biden, for showing us grace and power in the best terms.
Thank you for including his significant and touching words such as these in you included;
“We have to decide: Do we still believe in honesty, decency, respect, freedom, justice and democracy?…Does character in public life still matter? I believe you know the answer to these questions because I know you, the American people, and I know this: We are a great nation because we are a good people.”
Yes, so grateful that Joe Biden was there with the right experience at the right time and was willing to remind us what America is, at great personal sacrifice. I’m convinced he had this planned when he asked Kamala Harris to be his running mate, he’s a brilliant strategist, and genuinely humble. Do you remember the SOTU when he so skillfully and with good humor got the Rs to agree to not cutting Social Security? I still don’t know how he did that, magic maybe. But I think the secret is that he truly loves what he’s been doing, and we are the fortunate beneficiaries of his life of service. And I’m so excited about Kamala! It feels great to be optimistic and looking forward to the next few months and not dreading the possible outcome. Thank you Steven for your consistent, steadfast support of Joe, it helped ease the angst.
Well said Steven. These past few days have been very inspiring and moving for me. I am grateful to Joe Biden and for Kamala Harris. Yesterday I was at my desk perusing emails & texts full of News all talking about the massive coalescing around Harris and the money pouring in. I began to feel a small sense of relief absorbing it all, a jolt of positive emotion I hadn’t felt in years. I began to cry.
Steven, for once, in a very very long time, I am so proud of our country. I do feel the emptiness, the despair of facing an inept and cruel person for a second time has completely dissipated. It is glorious and we still have Joe fighting for our country while Kamala campaigns. These two have been the greatest partners and the love and respect for another shows. We are gonna win!
None of the men & women of the Trump Party and campaign will ever be a 10th of the man Joe Biden is or woman that Kamala Harris is. Not one can ever measure up. After all that has happened, if they are still with Trump they’re all traitors.
If you hear people say they are unfamiliar with what Kamala Harris has already done, show them this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJeltMiTZXo It's a video by Politics Girl (Leigh McGowan) called "Kamala Did What?" Inspiring! The media has been lax over the years informing the public about the accomplishments of the VPs.
Thank you Steve for a great post. While one can agree or disagree with any of the many policies that President Biden has espoused over his distinguished career, one thing is certain: our President is a person of integrity who continuously strives to work for the common good as he sees it. And while I personally think that Kamala Harris is an excellent choice to pass the torch h to, it also matters to me that the President personally believes it as well being in a much better position to judge than I am. My heart and thanks go out to our President for displaying his selfless courage and wisdom in a concrete way to all of America.
Eloquent and impactful words from President Biden, who deserved better treatment from his own party. In abdicating power, he joins a select company of extraordinary leaders who put the greater good above their personal ambitions. He also joins the pantheon of the greatest of our presidents in that he was exactly the right man at the right time. He came in to defeat the worst president in US history, in order to contain the first pandemic in a century, steady the decimated economy, and reclaim the mantle of world leadership after a disastrous abandonment of our allies because of trump's kowtowing to dictators. He will be remembered fondly and with honor.
I am one of many now who are Very Proud to have you as our Commander In Chief.
A man of courage, responsibility, character, integrity… and much more. It is certainly a joy for me to hear someone in office use the word Love and MEAN IT! Expressing through action and example, and, yes through Sacrifice. There is nothing disingenuous about him.
I am Grateful. Thank you, Steven, for your reflections.

President Biden reminds us what integrity is, what America is, what it means to be able to trust a leader.

Great statement, Wendy. Thanks for writing. I feel so optimistic too. It's nice to see Kamala's name in the media so often these days.
President Biden gave a masterclass in grace, maturity, seriousness and sincerity. All in less than 15 minutes. 💕👏

I know. It’s been so overwhelming for us.
